Any body else remember these?

Found, neatly folded above a door frame during some recent renovations

It sat undisturbed since 1950.

Yep. I loved that gum (and the comics) as a kid.

edit: Damn, I'm old.

I could chew about four pieces at a time. I remember the jaw aches.

Wow. Bazooka Joe. Haven't heard that name since college. There was a kid who was always chewing it and handing it out. Perhaps he was some scion to the Bazooka Joe fortune or something. Flavor would be gone within 2 minutes, and then your jaw would ache as the gum turned to solid rubber. Stuff from a different era...

I'm not sure it's racist. Tacky, yes, but racial no. It didn't say comes in the door, it said poor which could be anyone. It's only racial if you think of it that way. In the 50's probably plenty of people would have, but fortunately it's not the 50's. We still have enough people hanging on to that sort of thing.

When I renovated my house in Western Mass, I found in the ceiling above the plaster an empty package of Lucky Strikes that was green, with the bullseye. Had to have been before WWII.

You are entirely within your rights to not appreciate anything you don't want to.

You may also appreciate anything you do want to, e.g. the aforementioned proverb, or any other.

Best were Big Buddy Bubble Gum - used to chew a foot of that stuff during little league games - that and those Jolly Rancher sticks. Combine that with a Marathon Bar, a few Charleston Chews to round out an inning and I was running around like a rabbit on speed!

MMMMMM Mallo cups. Used to save the points and the rare free cup! They used to be next to the TV tube tester machine.
