Less gruesome, but an indicator of what might have been:

Glad to see you're alive Todd.

This is why all my craziness takes place on four wheels. I have no problem with other people doing it...it just isn't for me.

Blech! I like the drip of fluid running down your knee in the 1st one.

That could have been so much worse. Good thing you had some gear on.

A friend dropped a bike doing 90 MPH on I-95 in West Palm Beach at 10 at night. He was in a construction zone speeding with only a helmet on. He was wearing jeans and a tank top.

He was in the hospital with road rash equivalent to 3rd degree burns all over his torso, legs hands and arms. He had no health insurance and the bills came out to over $50K. + a totalled bike.

The pincture marks in his helmet indicated he would be dead if he did not have it. Everyone was amazed he was alive from that wreck as it was.

Wanna see his pics? It might make you feel better.

Heres to a quick healing and speedy recovery.

Hey Todd, from the looks of your knee, it looks like you are missing a fair amount of skin all the way to the knee cap. How come they have not stitched that up yet?
I had a similar incident on my mt. bike a few years back. I had a hunk of skin ripped off my knee about an inch and a half round. They just pulled it back together with stiches. It took a couple months to get full range of movement but its all good now.
I hope you heal quickly and I am glad that you and the g/f are alive.

Todd,

I'm glad to see that you are on the mend.

Syncroid, look again, there's nothing to close the wound with - that skin and meat is back on 405.

you'll heal from those now but wait till you start getting old, those little bumps and bruises will certainly come back to haunt you.

Too much skin missing to stitch that area together. The knee has to be able to bend and if you stitch that together the stitches will just rip out the first time he bends his knee. They are letting it heal in by "secondary intention" which just means the skin will slowly grow in from the sides. Should leave a lovely scar though...good thing you aren't a knee model.

Your leathers are toast. What kind of shoes/boots were you wearing?

I used to ride and did all sorts of dumb ***** when I was younger. I came out unscathed and never went back.

I cringe when I see people without proper gear. What kills me are guys with full gear and a gf on the back with flip-flops, daisy dukes, and a tube top.

Hope you get better soon, there are Porsches to be driven!

It's just a flesh wound.

It'll buff out.

Glad you and your g/f will be OK, Todd. I watched a guy I knew die in an unplanned motorcycle/car get together. Way more gore. Paramedics were on the scene almost immediately, but couldn't keep him alive. I sold my bike after that and decided to stick to cars.
