Thanks guys! It would be fun to explore Mulholland, but I think it would be pushing it for me to come out and play tomorrow.
Oh and Jeff, definitely the flu. Nothing like aching all over - on top of being sore from Willow, the fever, shivering, even though you are wrapped up in bankets with the heat up. At least I am done with this strain. |
In the meantime... check out my new wheel!

Mulholland Falls
Jeff and I parked in mid-pits at 1:30 and hiked down the mid-pits ridge to the canyons below Carls turn. One of the first things that we found was a 911 dash panel.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197690363.jpg I spotted a familiar sight, one of three mufflers that came off of a Kawasaki Mach III. My first street bike was one of those death machines, lots of fun. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197690403.jpg Of course there are lots of car parts littering the hillside below Mulholland. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197690432.jpg Here's Jeff holding up an almost perfect gas tank from a nearby Honda motorcycle. Below lies a super rare tear-drop trailer in the streambed. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197690458.jpg |

Mulholland Falls part II
We found running water in a small stream below Carls. Jeff and I had hiked down to within 100 feet of the Fryman Canyon baseline, and it was a long way back up to Mulholland. We found part of a MGB in the streambed.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197691239.jpg On the way back up, we found this cave with small waterfalls cascading over and above the cave entrance. I was stoked to find this unusual feature below Mulholland Drive. There is still evidence of complete cars (antique) in the area below Carls Jr. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197691258.jpg |
hey Banning- Look what I lifted off some other thread

I can't wait to restore and drive the one that I have. I wonder how many pelicans know what it is. Thanks for posting Radu. And thanks again for joining Me and Jane for my last Ferrari Club Meeting last night. We really enjoyed having you along to experience the Board of Directors and how the club functions. Also it was fun because of the small celebration we had due to my stepping down as Vice President. We are looking forward to seeing you and your fiance at the January Election Brunch. |

We were on the edge of Mul looking over the side with binocs and I really didnt want a ranger or cops to stop and say "hey what you look'in at"? So why not look "Official" and look like I belong there. Every car that drove by nailed the brakes. You missed the cool Mechanix Wear gloves Kevin. I will say this that annoying bus didn't stop today. Saw the vest and kept on busing. I really do not think they are supposed to stop for sight seeing afterall. This will unfold at a later date as Chris and I have an idea. It has something to do with a road closure. |

Day 2 hike with Chris.
We started at Deadman's and worked west towards Carls Jr. An interesting stroll to say the least. All sorts of junk and some cool stuff that has been hidden for many years. National Park System boundary sign about 50 feet over the side in the middle of nothing. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197762466.jpg A straight six block with crank and slugs. Even found a late model aluminum bowtie motor. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197762547.jpg More nibbling at our cheese. It is illegal to park on Mulholland on the 4th of July. How un- American! One less sign on Mulholland now. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197762622.jpg Mr. Banning on recon! How's that hand Chris? Some Bactine and a Bandaid...will be good as new! Actually that area is fairly steep. Chris has quite the sense of humor...all of a sudden he says "wow Jeff look what you stumbled onto and don't move". I say what? (thinking maybe some prize find) Chris replies "a forest of poison oak? Oh great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where gloves people! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197762753.jpg A BelAir fender. Any takers? Victor? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197762789.jpg Another cycle found. 1984 Honda CB??? with VIN tag intact less seat and wheels. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197762927.jpg A mint 1966 Mustang hub cap with just a little UV damage on the emblem. A ton of hub caps down there (Buicks, Caddy's, Olds, you name it) I bet we could find all of the "Mom's hubcaps" in that canyon. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197762952.jpg Pre GPS surveyor's icon. Or whatever it's really called. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197763011.jpg A rough 911 front pan (pre 73') with dual rusted battery box's. Even has two good Bosch horns mounted. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197763079.jpg Did I mention the BONES we found. Any Doctor Quincy's out there that can identify these? Really big bones and something's been gnawing on them! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1197763233.jpg |
