Yes and it's almost all the way through.

Consider it your lucky day. Bummer its cracked. Bigger bummer if it came apart on a late brake!
Actually you would just lose the clutch. I think that part is NLA. Call 818-Porsche or Dave B

$39.00 from Pelican, new. I hope I can get it tomorrow. And yes, because of where it would have sheared, I would only have lost the clutch. Still could do some damage though. I wonder how long it has been like this?

With everything prepped, it took about 20 minutes to install the motor.
Thanks Dave for helping, he was finishing his pedal cluster. ![]() Had to lift the body with a second floor jack so that the injection stacks would clear the rear bumper while pushing the motor underneath. ![]() Here's the motor ready to be lifted into it's mounts. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Banning; 08-11-2008 at 06:56 PM.. |

Once the motor is in this position, it can be lifted right up into it's spot, and can be bolted it quidkly.
![]() Like this! ![]() Just a few connections and we are ready for ignition. ![]() Hopefully everything is refreshed and ready. It sure looks pretty good. ![]() Last edited by Banning; 08-11-2008 at 07:05 PM.. |

I'm home. Clutch release is better, but worse than before the rebuild. It was enough to get me home and around for the net day, until I can readjust again. I'll post some pics a little later.
Thanks again, for the use of your driveway and tools Chris! I'll collect mine in a day or two.

Looks really good. Chris, I bet you are really getting excited about getting the Carrera out. Can't wait. I used to live in San Diego while I was in the Navy and made the trip up to your race track a few times.
Good luck and have fun.

Mulholland is full of pot holes as previously stated several times during this thread. In preparation for "driving" on Mulholland again I have had an idea. I suggest that we go to city council as a group of concerned residents and propose to fix the pot holes thus saving the city thousands of dollars. Kind of like an adopt a highway routine. You know the ones that we see on signs around L.A. In return, they will change the ordinance so that Mulholland closes one hour later, at 10:00 pm instead of 9:00 pm. I believe that this is a reasonable offer and will be great for those of us that like to observe the city lights at night. That means that Mulholland can be enjoyed more like it was intended to, as a scenic drive. I will also allow us to hang out at Deadmans for example without any hassels from Rangers. Halleluyah! We need a curfew of some kind in these days, otherwise Mulholland will become a horrible hangout for gang-bangers or worse. 10:00pm is a great improvement and will be acceptable if presented properly to city council. I suggest that we make a current map showing locations of dangerous pot holes and post it to this thread. With this map, we can prove the roadway needs to be repaired. This can save the city litigation costs arising from accidents and they just might go for it. It is unrealistic to think that they would allow racing on Mulholland again. They will not give us "Skyline to Bowmont" at any time of the day or year. It would create too much of a liabilty. Sorry, but those days are truly gone. But that's OK, because the new days are here for us all to live and make the best out of. And we will... |

A few day-glo safety vests (track workers)...a couple of orange hefty bags for realism and a few "trash detail" course closures for just a few minutes. Some cones and a hand held stop sign. Couple of FRS radios.
No one would suspect a thing. Then we disappear as fast as we appeared.

Friday will work for me. We usually avoid Friday and Saturday evenings for obvious reasons, but we havn't met on Mulholland in awhile and a new guest is in town.
Meet at Truckstop as usual at around 8:00pm It's crowded on Friday and Saturday evenings, so we will be driving like normal humans to dirt Mul at 9:00pm. I'm not kidding this time guys, I'm bringing my old pedal-car just to be sure the pace is slow. The weather looks good and it will be great to see you guys and talk about cars, Porsches, and Mulholland. |

No insurance on the car unfortunately. ![]() I hope that the car is recovered soon without being stripped. Unbelievable, right on or near Mulholland. You're not safe anywhere these days. |
