Hi Chris,
Been lurking on this thread for a while but not posting. Just wanted to say congrats on getting the car running again. It looks great. You should bring it by the Sunday super car show at Valley Circle. I am sure it would generate a lot of interest.

I don't know about that--the part about generating any interest. We think the car's pretty neat, but in today's jaded world, unless your car costs 6 figures, no one's gonna blink an eye. They'll probably just feel sorry for you that you can't afford something newer. The only Porsches that seem to generate any interest at Supercar Sunday are Carrera GTs.

Another funny one, thanks Alereck. I used to go to Supercar Sunday with my Testarossa (6 figures) and it wasn't even noticed due to all the other exotics that are always present there. I think you will find that it's only the stuck-up, filthy, money worshiping trash that will feel that a Porsche dosn't rate. If anything does get noticed, it is usually something unique. ![]() The truth is, the Porsche in general is a superior car to all others. We are talking about a 911 of course. No other car has the endurance. No other car has such superior engineering. No other car will do what a Porsche can do. Anyone who believes otherwise is just plain ignorant. I am not exagerating or incorrect my friends. I have worked on cars for almost 40 years and I base my opinion on all my mechanical experience. I love all cars but for the Porsche, there is no substitute! Why do you think I chose Porsche to build my Mulholland racer? I could have picked any car. After racing and beating everyone in the Ferrari Club (with their new 360's, new 550's, etc.) with my old Testarossa I learned this: At speeds below 100mph the Carrera would stomp the crapp out of the Testarossa. On Canyon roads, the Carrera would pitifully destroy and embarass the Testarossa. Under all braking conditions, the Carrera stops like no car that I have ever driven, the Testarossa scares me to death with it's inferior brakes. Bad! Don't misunderstand, the Testarossa is a beautiful 12 cylinder car that is extremely fast and handles well at high speeds. (It actually feels superior above 120mph) It's just that after owning a Ferrari for 8 years it seemed quite obvious that it can't compare with most aspects of the Porsche. PORSCHE! PORSCHE! PORSCHE! ANYTHING ELSE IS JUST ROLLING METAL! . Last edited by Banning; 09-08-2008 at 09:24 AM.. |

That's a beautiful 911 you have LaCarrera. The blue details with the white car looks great.
Thanks again to Derek, Radu, Dave, Chris, and Nick for coming over when we started the Carrera for the first time. Here is the video of that day, two hours condensed into a few minutes thanks to my sister, Karina. |

That photo of your car in the setting sun looks great. Looks like Marina Del Rey in the backround. The previous photos that you posted were taken on Mulholand except for the last photo at the Chevron station on Laurel. Please correct me if I'm wrong: First photo taken in Dog Leg Straight going east towards Beverly Glen (before dogleg). Second photo taken at the bottom of the Esses (going east) just after that nasty, blind right turn. Third photo taken in The Racecourse going east just before the turn where you see Deadmans ahead. Great pics, thanks for posting. |

Well, for a short period today, I was "King of the Hill"....
![]() It's not smog - think sepia tone OK, not Mulholland Dr., but top of Stunt Rd - near Mulholland Hwy., though...

Nice, Dave!
Your car looks killer in this photo. Almost makes me want to give up the graceful lines of the coupe for the _____ lines of a Targa. ![]() ![]() ![]() (joke dude... joke)

Taking off every other lug nut cuts a lot of un-sprung weight also.
