OK, ok, the car stalled and he is coasting in...

Holding up the roof, Jeff?

Yes, we can tell by the trail of blue smoke. Congrats!

Next project: Where's Scrufus?

Now for some fun...

What do you get when a UPS truck tries to do a 3 point turn at the top of Banning's driveway?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1224125545.jpg

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1224125559.jpg

Jeff, a few hours after being trapped by the UPS truck...
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1224125728.jpg
...and deciding there was an easier way out :D

BTW, Chris, I hope you enjoyed your B-day today!

Jeff Hail 10-15-2008 07:37 PM

The login is getting funky on the OT. Took about 25 times to finally get in tonight.

Dave, I knew you would beat me to post.

Chris, Happy 53rd Birthday -rejoice thy youth!

Day well spent. Had fun. Some Weenies and chips. Good conversation and the smell of oil and fuel. Doesnt get better than that!

The RSR actually left the property today. What a great milestone for a Birthday.

I love the smell of oil in the afternoon. After burning off some carbon deposits the RSR flies. I mean really flies. Chris's car is fast -really quick thru 2nd gear. I saw 60 in 200 yards holding on to the head bar.

Dave
I realized my camera sucks after seeing your clear photos.

flatspot 10-15-2008 07:39 PM

Chris and all,
Good times today, Thanks for having us up. DAMN!!! that thing's FAST!!!
Dave, I think that's me hanging on for dear life in that sequence?
hard to tell with my decrepid old eyes. Can't wait till next time.
Peace, Kiley

flatspot 10-15-2008 07:43 PM

Ha, just saw Jeff's shot with dave standing behind the trash cans and thought,
those aren't tire bariers and there's no armco behind it.
Run Dave, Run!!! ;>)

Jeff Hail 10-15-2008 07:44 PM

I felt sorry for the UPS guy. He has some "esplain'in to do". High centering a UPS truck! I couldnt help but see the humor and the delay in getting back to work.
Oh well - I was getting paid, even better.

slodave 10-15-2008 07:53 PM

Kiley, yes, that was you in the sequence. Jeff mentioned the trash can issue as well ;).

Jeff: next time we get together, lets spend a few with your P&S and see what's going on. You sure you don't have it on some weird, long exposure setting? Camera ever been dropped?

What the hell is wrong with my left leg in the last pic?

Jeff Hail 10-15-2008 07:55 PM

Fun Day

While waiting for the rest of our group, we posed for a photo.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1224129215.jpg

On a nice warm day, there's nothing like barbecue hot dogs.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1224129237.jpg

Thanks for joining me today guys, it was a lot of fun.

I can't think of a better birthday than to drive the Carrera again. Those full throttle runs down my driveway were a blast with the tires spinning most of the way to 60mph.
It's been so long, I forgot how sickingly fast it can drive.
We have to do a video for youtube as soon as we are on the road.

This one has never been dropped. I think Its because the resolution/ quality is set low. If I bump it up to 7mp it's fine. Try uploading a 7mp image without resizing? Its fine most of the time and then all of a sudden the Pentax gets randomly funky.

Whats up with your leg? Looks like a compound fracture. It wasn't the camera.

Imagine if the tires were new and actually stuck to the ground!

Banning 10-15-2008 08:21 PM

My point exactly.

Dave, I think you had better get to making some really big glider wings, we may want to take off. :D

That appears to be a (not a 917) 16 cylinder Bosch MFI Pump, a true work of art.

The smooth melding of Bosch with Porsche is one of the things that allows Porsches to be the finest cars in the world, racing or otherwise.

Banning 10-16-2008 10:15 AM

16 cylinder air-cooled Porsche

Here is a photo of the 12 cylinder 917 engine next to the 16 cylinder engine.

Chris, did that pump come off of that rare 16 cylinder engine ;)

Happy Birthday, Chris... what a great way to celebrate. Y'all are all so lucky to be able to rally around the old stomping grounds and your reborn screamer.

Was the UPS guy witness to some of the driveway runs and if so, did he seem to get it?

Also, what's this about Jeff holding onto the roll cage? Does this mean only the driver's seat got a harness???

LOL... Jeff, was it a better ride than the rollercoaster at the state fair?

One more thing, Chris... this is just too cool...

http://i518.photobucket.com/albums/u...rframeweld.jpg

...I hope you don't ever grind that down and finish it off... it just wouldn't seem right, somehow.
:)
