Nothing wrong with the house. It was an investment with a family member and then I later ended up living in it. The business partner feels the house is worth more than market dictates. Starting to get the picture? I offered to buy out the share based on market. Partner declined. Soooooo I found a larger nicer home for much less.

In the written business agreement we both have a 30 day notice clause. We both have a sell at will option also which protects me and forces the others hand in case the above scenario happens and vise versa. This is why I do not do business with family anymore! Now the partner has no choice but to sell, buy me out or rent it. I love it when a plan comes together.

Actually I made an offer on the new home. I will know in a day or two if it is accepted.

He is doing a fantastic job at restoring and upgrading to race car specs.
Most of us don't have the skills neccessary to do what Jeff is doing.
There is no doubt that it will be an impressive 914-6 when he is done.

I wonder if he can tie in the anti-sway mounting points to that cage. The brackets can tear away from the inner fender under load...

Jeff does incredibly clean work.
He made the anti-sway bar mounts much stronger by adding bigger stiffener brackets and then welded them in perfectly.
Jeff fabricated these to prevent just what you are talking about.

Chris, Lance Stewart here in Fl following your Reg propblem. Victor recently had the same problem with one of his CBX's...he "sold" it to me and I titled it here in FL and then returned the title to him....

Chris just rolled by on his way to the auto club to fulfill another request from the dmv. I think I spotted a tear in his eye when he first got out of his car. He said he'll bring everyone up to date as soon as he can, although I don't think he'll escape the dmv hell very soon.
Maybe we should start a prayer chain for Chris.

Sheesh. Hope he doesn't get the same AAA dingbats that I got trying to title my bike last year. It was barely sprinkling, so the librarian-lookalike of a clerk I got passed off the inspection portion to someone else, as she didn't want to get her hair wet.

Some guy with a clipboard and flashlight came out. Everything was fine (I was trying to transfer the title from Mass to Calif--it was already in my name), until he got to the part where the engine number has to be checked off. Frickin' number is stamped on the bottom of the engine case, underneath the plastic fairing. To see the number, you realistically have to take the fairing off.

So I leaned the bike way over, as far as I could without dropping it (the fairings are not expensive, but they're original and unobtainium). The guy was bent over, and was reading off the numbers. They matched the paperwork perfectly...except for one number/letter in the middle of the sequence. It was smudged with grease, he complained. And he wouldn't pass it.

Fer chrissake. Every frickin' digit matched except for one (the one he couldn't make out). That digit was in the middle of the sequence, not something that would really vary, like a digit at the end of the sequence. Does this guy know nothing about how manufacturers assign/create VINs? The engine number even matched the frame number (which NEVER happens with a Ducati--they're not organized enough to intentionally do something like that). And he wouldn't let it go.

So I went to the bathroom, got a paper towel, got it all soapy, and used the end of a pen to get it to reach over to the serial number to clean it off. The guy fortunately came back out and took another look, and let it pass. Sheesh. Dorks.

As I arrived at the DMV on Vanowen I felt sick of anticipation of what Rollercoaster I was getting into. Normally I like that sort of thing. But not today.

I had to wait for awhile until my appointment was called up. I was talking on the phone with Jeff H. when the moment of truth was at hand.
I went to the clerk and explained that the car had been in storage for over a decade and had not touched surface streets during the time of storage.
She was shown photos of my fallen home after the Northridge earthquake and I presented my last registration from 1995. At first Lucrecia (the clerk) was somewhat cold and not friendly but I tried my best to butter her up with compliments, smiles, and body language. It seemed to work because she actually made time to help me fill out a statement of facts so it would pass scrutiny.

After a half hour of so she hooked me up with a superviser with all my paperwork looking very much in order. Thank you very much.

That supervisor named Lois looked at my paperwork and went off to the big boss named Barbara. Barbara was the only person wearing an official brown smock. Her name was emblazed in big red letters on the front.

Barbara was a cold as the Ice Princess and had an intimidating way about her. I thought to myself, Oh boy, here we go..

I explained the situation and showed her the photos of my quake fallen house, etc.
At first she wouldn't budge saying that I didn't file a non-op for the Porsche but I did for another car in 2006 so I was aware of it, etc...
I implored her to forgive the penalties due to my extreme hardship of losing my home.
She hesitated..

After going to talk to Sacremento on the phone, she said she could forgive some of the penalty. I said Thank you very much.
Then I was relayed to Merriam to pay the fees and work thru the rest of the registration process.
She asked if I had insurance. I said that I could add it to my Auto Club policy so she gave me the FAX number to send it back to prove insurance.

The AAA club has moved from Kester to Ventura and information dosn't have the new number, can you believe that?
I went back to Merriam and she said that if I didn't pay all fees NOW, I would lose the penalty forgivness.
So, buck up Dude, I paid all fees with a forced smile and left for the Auto Club to get proof of insurance.

I knew that I had to hurry because those Ladies take a lunch at the DMV and if you don't get the same person, you will have to explain it all over again.
I ran into the Auto Club and spoke to someone in insurance. The Carrera was added to the policy and I was given proof of insurance.

Here is the result of today's running around. We have a 30 day permit to drive the Carrera (on Mulholland) in order to get a smog cert.

Halleluyah, my Porsche Bretheren, Praise the Lord! The Porsche is driveable and is now legal to drive. :)

And today is my 16 year wedding anniversay with my wife, Jane.
There is no better gift this day than to get to drive that creation again.

I hope my wife agrees, I was gone all day. Thanks Jane.
