i do not remember right away. There were not many from MRA that i knew. They were up there before CRE. Perhaps if i met him again, the grey cells would wake up ;)

The MRA guys that i knew were Jay Weinstein, Dale Shore, Jim Jonas, Jorn Oulie, Randy, Harvey , and that was about it as they were all Mini maniacs and still came up to play when MRA basically slipped away.

Thanks Dave, that explains why this guy Nick is so into Minis. He said that he has 13 of them.

Chris,
The second video you posted was not a 917 but in fact the same 956 featured in the Fuji
clip. Both of these clips were taken from the classic In Car 956 video from 1983. It features
the factory Rothmans 956 driven by 5 times Le Mans winner Derek Bell who also gives the
commentery. Tracks featured are Silverstone, Nurburgring Nordscliefe, Le Mans (pre chicanes)
Spa-Francorchamps, Brands Hatch, Kyalami and Fuji. It's available from Burbank autobooks
and is worth it for the 'Ring lap alone.
Peace, Kiley

Hey Chris, I think you have started something. Here's a video of some other guy resurrecting a Porsche that has sat for like 30 years.

Way awesome Kurt, thanks for posting.

That 917 started just like the Carrera did after sitting many years, choking, spitting, smoking, and complaining. But as the gentleman said about it's reputation, a Porsche can sit many years and still start and run like it did before.

Proving again their old motto-

PORSCHE, THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE!

Yea! Makes me wanna go out and tear up some pavement.

Not sure if you've seen this before but here is my ultimately-favorite 911 video. It's of the original Ruf CTR taking a hot lap around the Nurburgring. No traction control or ABS either....

Enjoy!

Excellence on Mulholland

I just found out that the Carrera will be in the September issue of Excellence Magazine, available in mid to late July.

I have seen the article and it's impressive. Mr. Linsky's reputation as a great journalist is accurate.

If you have liked this thread, and like Porsches and/or Mulholland, then this magazine will be a must have.

Chris, I sharpened this in PS, gives it a bit more detail. Also recovered some info via shadows and highlights.

Thanks for bringing out those receipts! Amazing how inexpensive parts were.

The handwritten notes on Mulholland were a great read...;)

Now that you have the driver's racing bucket seat installed, I'm anxious for you to get the passenger seat installed as well, so that we can get some video.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...leys/pint1.gif

Very cool, Dave... looks great. I was messing around with the color version of that photo last Friday and basically just took out that rock and blurred the background... all in an effort to make the car stand out more.

Chris, I dropped by Books-A-Million this past Saturday (the 22nd) and all they had was June. With the lead time projection Excellence gave you, shouldn't B-A-M have had July already?

Maybe July is there now... or maybe they meant that subscribers will be receiving the September issue in July. They usually receive issues earlier than the bookstores.

I'm looking forward to seeing this issue of Excellence as well and it will be available in mid July. That's what I was told by the author, Peter Linsky.

In the mean time seats have been replaced with Scheel racing buckets.
Cold start is being repaired, and so is the hand throttle. What an improvement!

I noticed this item for sale in a favorite catalog,

I thought it might be a good idea to test these driving shoes made for Mulholland. ;)

It's been quite cool lately on these Mulholland evenings. We are waiting for some warmer weather to have a Truckstop meeting. It's about time!
More to come...

Well, we're waiting for the September issue of the mag, you reading comprehension-challenged rock star. :p

edit: OK, at least there's an article on the Panamera; I'll save it for the Porcupine.

I was simply saying... "What does the August issue have to do with the September issue? Is there something in the August issue we should know about?"

:p
