And if I may speak for vntgspd, lfot, slodave, and myself, we would all love to see a certain RSR at one of our events. It's lots of fun Chris, with no risk of damaging your car. And Dave designs some pretty darn fast courses which will let that thing stretch it's legs a bit. The best part is no cops, cliffs, or cars coming the other way. Plus it's only 60 bucks AND you get coffee and donuts in the morning. What more could you ask for ?

When is the next one?

Agreed! If the RSR comes, I'll be sure to throw something special into the course design. ;) |
Next event is August 8th at El Toro in Irvine
No rollbars for cabs, unless they reach a high level of preparation. |

Might be fun to have an off-duty cop in a patrol car there to chase the competitors for inspiration. Also possibly on-coming racers in adjacent lanes could spice it up a little. We will have to do without cliffs, embankments, and walls I realize. :( Just joking guys, (maybe). lol. I still need some time to get my front entry completed to be able to leave my Garage. When done, I am going to celebrate! See you on Mul...(Roarrrrr) |
Supercar Sunday
There's a fair amount of California bashing on other PPOT/PARF threads, but for a gearhead I can't think of too many other places cooler than SoCal. As I was leaving I was stopped at a red light. I looked over to the guy in the Lamborghini next to me and commented to him how there were four cars stopped, from four different countries: his Gallardo, a GTO (the original--not the rebadged Holden Monaro), an Infiniti G37 (with Datsun badging ;)), and my 911. How many other places in the world can boast a regular but informal gathering of 100-200 cars of such varied machinery?
This rat rod frequently makes the rounds here in the Valley, but I still get a kick out of it every time I see it. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...g/DSC_0304.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...g/DSC_0306.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...g/DSC_0305.jpg |
I think this car still turns heads, 40+ years later. A little Ferrari trivia: the 365 GTB car wasn't officially named the Daytona. But it was introduced the same month in 1967 in which Ferrari won the 24 Hours of Daytona, finishing 1-2-3. So it got nicknamed the Daytona by the press, and the name's stuck.

It didn't photograph too well from this angle, but it was hard to get a clean pic of the 458 with all the crowding around this new model. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...g/DSC_0355.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...DSC_0352-1.jpg I didn't have my polarizing filter with me, but just below the glare from the Auto Gallery banner you can see the signatures (of the Maranello mechanics presumably?) in the engine compartment. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...g/DSC_0354.jpg |
