What happened to the Mulholland "King of the Hill" RSR?

Hi Guys, Just a short note to let you know that I have been lurking on this thread for 68 pages. I have been a friend of SSB since 1974 when we had an impromptu race in MGB's in Las Vegas.
(To Red Rock Canyon, He won, got his hat back).
SSB sent me the link to this thread a while ago. I played in a show band at Knott's Berry Farm back then and lived in Newport Beach. I spent as much time on the hill as my schedule allowed and have left a lot of rubber (and a little paint) up there. I have many fond memories of Mulholland and some of the contests I experienced. I was the guy who came up with the youtube link to the Collins Kids singing "hotrod".
I will be in L.A the first week in August, playing at the Gene Autry Museum and 100th birthday festival and hope to meet some of you then.
For sure I hope to visit with Victor and Neil!

Thank you very much Victor for getting my wife and I invited to Cliff and Karens celebration this evening. Thank you also to Cliff and karen for letting us share this special day with you, and to Beth and Rob for your fine hospitality.

We really enjoyed meeting and seeing again some of the members of the CRE. The stories that I was hearing are incredible tales. The Roman Chariot Rides, The grief driver runs, the crashes on and off the track, and all the unique cars that were raced on Mulholland in those days. All the CRE members went on to racing professionally in some way or another. Some became SCCA National Champions like Victor. I now realize the depth of the importance of the CRE in relation to Mulholland racing and what a large well of great experiences and happenings it contains. The CRE can now be carefully documented and imortalized properly as they deserve to be.

I hope to meet the rest of the CRE in the near future and also some of the remaining MRA members. It was a pleasure and an honor just to be included tonight and a thanks also to, Pat, Craig, Doug, Dave, Niel, Tommy, and the other guests we met.

I had the opportunity to visit our own ( HPV) Henry Valdez's- ENRIQUE'S Sonora Cuisine in Thousand Oaks today.

Unfortunately Henry was away on vacation and I missed him but my host Tom was great. Great food, great friendly service with a smile.

I once asked Henry jokingly "whats cooking"?

Henry's response:
" Customers ask whats good on menu ? I train staff to respond Nothing. If good is as good as we can deliver forget it! We have to be Great or Nothing! Thats whats cooking!"

uh.......teeners? Oh. 914's. I get it (I guess) I was going to say that one guy's loggon is Howard Crazy Hippy Dekman
which would not be a teenager to me, but now I get it (I guess).

Victor, I think that's Howard, Crazy Hippy, and Dekman. Three different logons.

I have always liked your motorcycle. The bike looks so cool, reminds me of the Benelli six cylinder. Smooth and powerful.

You know Victor one of those CBX 6's will go right in a Honda 600 (car). I have seen it done. I wrote a brief post some pages back.

I agree Jeff, thanks also.
I will bring my Big binoculars next time. Jupiter and it's moons are clearly visible this time of year, fun to observe all lined up.

Seeing things like that video post from Jeremy is a motivator for me to fix the Carrera. I like that perspective, makes you feel like you're in the drivers seat, thanks for posting Jeremy.

When I've completed the restroration of the z28 which is near, and replaced the chain tensioners on the 1973 911t, it will be time to pull out the Carrera's m. f. i. pump out and have it cleaned out as per Dave B.'s advice. Thank you Dave, great advice. The Corvair Rampside pickup truck still needs new paint. I'll paint it before summer is over in a 1960's candy lavendar with silver trim, lavendar wheels and a silver rooftop. I'm not sure that I would drive it, but bet's on that some surfer or avant garde artist will.

One more car project remains.
The Type 34 Spyder.
Some before pictures might be in order to make a comparison for when it's finished. I'll take some and post later. It's super light, roof modified to spyder configuration, Porsche gauges and Fuchs "daisy" alloy wheels with low profile tires. Six point rollcage, steel fender flares, racing transmission, quick shift, disc brakes(no laughing), Momo full racing buckets, red interior with a silver exterior, and a dual Weber 2.4 Hi-Perf four cylinder engine with over 200 ft/lbs of torque.
And...it's a Volkswagen.

True, however that VW Bus outdriving the Porsche racecar was most impressive(thanks for posting Victor). With a Bus like that, going across Canada or driving to Vegas would be a blaze. I wonder how it would do on Mulholland? It looks competitive to me. I don't think being a passenger would be relaxing, especially sitting up high with the seating position that the Bus has.
I think tranquilizers are in order to ride shotgun in that vehicle at speed.
