Way back when it was only 290 whp I did some track days with it.
I did let Craig Stanton do a few laps in it to see what he thought. He turned a1:27 on worn out street tires on Big Willow.

I don't have any desire to drive in circles after doing all this work when there are so many great empty canyon roads to drive.

Doesn't seem like it would be any fun to not ever be able to open her up and let her run like you can on a track. Why have all that capability and only use such a small part of it?

That's my point dude, there are so many nice roads around and the cool thing is they are all better than Mulholland except for the higher speed ridge top run that was a white knuckler, with a close ratio steering rack and rougher than it looks road surface.

It's fun…. and isn't fun the best thing to have.

You are correct that there are many roads in California where you can really go for it, have fun, and not jeapordize anyone else's safety as you have demonstrated in your videos. I'm not sure it would be accurate to say that they are all "better" than Mulholland since that's a value judgement and we all like different things, thank goodness.
Mulholland has a rich history and it's where I have spent my life so please excuse me for holding it in reverence and high regard. I think that Mulholland has always been a beautiful part of Los Angeles.

Without getting into a big discussion, I agree that fun is a good thing to have.
But more importantly good health, family, friends, self-esteem, and love in one's life are the most important things to have in my opinion.
Fun comes along with that.

The quality of each of our lives and our lifestyles is of paramount importance.

Almost done with floor preparation.
Had to use red oxide primer for now, ran out of the dark grey.

Took some time to remove the heavy rust from the back floor.
Nothing like a big leaking Targa to destroy the beautiful floor of a 911.

and what about the Rollcage? coming soon...

Time to fit the Coupe roof to the Targa. You know the saying, he who hesitates...

These seams have to be ground down to not only make the window distance correct, but they also have to fit together well. Not like this.

The mating surfaces should look like this, ready to weld.

Ruben and I had to constantly check the distances between the upper and lower cowl panel so that the window will fit perfectly.

After a lot of messing around we got the dimensions to be right on, 25 1/8 inches window frame space.

After some more grinding and playing with it, both sides are right on the money at the same distance.

Mating surfaces must be ground to be flat and even.

Using a clamp to hold it in place and to use as a ground, I used the MIG to tack the frame together.

I tacked the passenger side frame as well so it won't move during this fitting procedure.

Ruben asked if he could try some welding. He took welding class early this year at Pasadena City College so why not.

Here's a close up of Ruben using the MIG on the driver's side windshield pillar.

The roof appears to be slightly warped probably from the donor car being in a accident. This should make it especially fun to fit. "A Fitting End" lol

It is irrelevant that you stay in your lane; you are seriously outdriving your brakes. You said you like to drive safely. Those speeds on those roads? All you need is some sand blown across one of those turns or for some doofus to pull out of one of those driveways and things would get nasty real fast.

It would be fine if you were only putting your own safety at risk, but that's not the case.

Dude you have no idea how good my brakes are or how sticky my tires are on this 1650 lb car, so how can you make that statement… As for cornering speeds and sand, I expect sand and rocks around each and every corner and drive with that in mind.
In all honesty the only doofuses I worry about are Porsche drivers crossing the centerline, I look at each and every driveway.
I can see you must live in a safety bubble and never exceed the posted speed limit and adjust your driving according to weather conditions

Starting with a Targa which has extra structure (which impedes on the foot space), I imagine this combination of yours will be stiffer than a coupe with full cage.

Way too defensive and filled with irrational rationalizations and casting aspersions on the locals.

Must have hit a nerve.

Look, that's a very capable car and it should be driven with gusto ...on a track. It looks like you're hitting 80-100+ on parts of that ridge run (only watched about half of it) and that doesn't leave you any room for the unexpected.

That's all I'm saying.

The guys here that used to run Mullholland with gusto were in their 20's when they did that. You know, youthful exuberance and lightning quick reflexes and all that.

They're older and wiser now and know it wouldn't be smart to try a repeat performance.

What you're doing is not safe.

Think about it.

A track is the perfect place for you to play with that thing. Take advantage of that fact.
