ChrisBennet On Tour NH to NV April 3

My buddy Charles and I are driving (possibly pushing) my buddy Todd's 930 to Lake Tahoe Nevada the first week of April.

I'm not sure of the route yet but it will be southerly to avoid driving in the snow.

It would be nice to meet some fellow Pelicans on the way.
If you owe me a meal, let me know and maybe I'll be able to stop by and collect.

-Chris

I'm leaving in early May to pick up Ashville John in his 911 so we can roll 2 911s around out west. If you're still out there it'll be a kick to meet up. We'll have his laptop to be in pelican contact. Why not start a new subject before you leave?

And forget about a route imo. Stop at truck stops to get good weather news so you can dodge it.

Its still early enough in the year that the only real safe route is through El Paso.

Look at the other routes but do not be surprised at a pop up snow storm coming through. We have one here in Arizona today that is dropping snow above 7000 feet in the mountains, then it will be heading East.

From what I've seen of that car and its wiring harness (as well as the...um... mechanical abilities of your co-pilot ) I'd say you should try to map out a route that takes you past Steve Timmons place in Delaware, Dawe Porsche in PA, Chris Streit at Motodelta in Chicago, John Walker's Workshop etc etc etc!

HAVE FUN AND POST A LOT OF PICS!

N Michigan and the peninsular before tourists hit the road is worth the ride. Even riding way up to Copper Harbor where copper and rock are mixed into the terrain is a trip. I could go on but the point is Michigan can be a great state to ride around in.

a rides availability of a pit stop in Ann Arbor shouldn't be taken lightly.

all imho

If you take the Ohio turnpike west thru Toledo and need any assistance, let me know. All the salt is gone and we have been having some nice weather this past week (high 70's for a couple of days).

I think we are driving further south Tim.
I was thinking about air conditioning options the other day and I was thinking it would be a nice road trip out to you for some creative A/C work.

You want AC? What kind of Porsche non purist are you anyway? I actually used my AC Monday and Tuesday. After two years, it finally could use a top off of 134, but it is now back down in the high 50's-low 60's for a couple of days. I think I will pick up a can and throw it in this weekend.

hey chris, i don't actually owe you a meal but would certainly give one to a fellow pelican when possible. if you are passing through central new york in the general area of exit 33 on the ny thruway at lunch or supper time, i have a nice little restaurant and would be glad to feed you. i am located on state route 5 about thirty miles east of syracuse.
i make some unusual pizza pies [reuben, pork bbq, jerk chicken, chicken florentine, chili pie, etc.], bake my own bread for sandwiches, and make my own desserts. if you are interested give me a call at 315 829 3030. hope to hear from you on your way through.

Thanks David, I don't know that our route will take us by there yet (I'm not the navigator thank goodness) but I'll give you a shout if it looks like we'll be in the area.
Tell me though, if you're the cook wouldn't you have to be at your busiest just when we wanted to say hi?
-Chris

keep the tail end forward!

Hey Guys! I am the co-driver, navigator, and designated Pusher :-))
The car is a 79ish 930. With them really really fat tires. Makes for good porscheboarding in the mountains!!!

Janus now the car actually looks decent, and runs!!! yes! runs! The radio works so we can drown out the noise of that silly engine in the back ;-)
Either that or I am going to have some massive quads by the end of the trip!

The route start is Nashua NH, and we will be going down (around NYC) to Maryland to start with. Got someone who will put us up for the night by Bethesda, MD! woohoo! free lodging!

The Pizza sounds freaking awesome! Might just be worth swinging out for during the summer months ... can we say road trip!

Chris also started a Thread over here also : ChrisBennet XCountry Tour This week Since not all people read OT :-)

This is our initial ROUGH Route! I have bumped it up to Oki city, OK from Dallas (unless there is a huge contingent of cool PP people in Dallas) hehehe

Looks like we might have to swing up to Denver :-) to meet folks! probalby either thurs of friday. Will have a better handle on that once we are on the road!

The car was getting a "facelift" to get the primer hidden. Nothing worse for picking up sweet youn' thangs than primer on a porsche

This was our idea of a route, part of the goal is to MEET PEOPLE, see some of the cool sites (grande canyon) and get laid just kidding. maybe.

I think we can swing by Las Vegas, that is the best place to get laid ...err.. I mean to meet people from pelican yes?

Oh and we are going to have the ability to drop into Silicon Valley too... so if there are people there who want to get together, I beleive (tentatively) 9th and 10th we will be in SJ/SF area. Our host buddy in Tahoe is going to SJ so we are going to tag along and check things out.
