$0.01 for a MONTH?!?! Even with LEDs I have a hard time with that. Is that per bulb or per string. If it's per bulb, possibly. . . Of course most people just use 10x the energy efficiency to justify buying 10x the number of lights. . .

OK, no blanket condemnations here. I understand there are allowable exceptions, X-mas lights and convertibles. But the worst is the guy with the top down, his window down, but his wife/girlfriend's window rolled up! And if I follow him home in June and see X-mas lights hanging.... ...HE MUST DIE!!

There is a house I drive by every day on my way to work that still has the Christmas tree up! Still decorated and all. They still have the lights up on the house.....AND a wreath on the front door. Our lights usually come down the day after New Years.

I don't see a problem leaving Christmas lights on if there's still snow on the ground? As an ex-cab guy; I totally agree with top down; windows MUST be down. Oh, and look warm. I put lights up last year because there's 3 little boys living next door; but this year I didn't bother. My house isn't really visable from the road anyway and I have excellent yard lighting.

I never put them up this year. You might say I'm saving a small amount of energy. Mine.

Same here...put a few lights in a tree out front but nothing on the house. It is a PITA and I'm trying to enjoy my break, not make more work for myself.

Epiphany is January 5th. The lights stay up, and on, until then. Along with the tree.

The modern Christmas is built around pre-Christmas sales, movie releases on the 25th and post-Christmas sales. Quaint notions such ad Advent, Boxing day and Epiphany get in the way of this shopping mania..

I thought Epiphany was January 6 - hence the "12 days of Christmas" and all that... Been years since I attended Catholic school though, and I've repressed most of it.

Hey, it's now Valentine's Day shopping season at the mall. I'm surprised they haven't found a away to sell things for MLK day and the Inauguration this year. The problem with putting this stuff up is that you have to work in the cold to take it down. No thanks. My kids like it, though, I guess I should do something next year.

My lights are down as of today. Yeah, I know its a pain putting them up and taking them down every year but it keeps the wife happy. If she is happy, I am happy.

But if we take our Christmas lights down, how will we find out house? Oh wait, it's the only one without a foreclosure sign in the front yard... angela

Tree is down, lights are unplugged. They'll come down as soon as it's safe to climb up on the roof (i.e. it stops snowing). I drive with the targa top off and the windows up on the freeway- is that okay? Cheers, Paul.
