How about it guys?

Might not get anything done, but it would be fun...

We just did it here in Phoenix a month ago. Whole group of us got together and pulled a Pelican's engine and tranny, then proceeded to take the engine apart to see what went wrong inside.

Had a good time, and helped a friend in the process. Same thing could work here...

Well I haven't been able to get a contractor to come out and look at the job. Guess its the busy season.

So if any of you guys are GCs and are interested in some work just PM me. Or maybe you know a GC you'd be comfortable recommending?

thanks gang

I'd get under there with some screw jacks and some hydraulic jacks and big pieces of wood (and perhaps some beer and cigarettes) and jack it up. Dig. Place wet concrete or dry blocks. Voila!

I`d like to be Superman too. He has a simple solution for every problem. Did not he fix broken studs on his SC, by just opening his engine, replacing the studs, button it back up and voila ! But since I am not Superman, what I would do with the house is take a reverse mortgage...

This probably won't help, but on one of the "fix-it" type shows (Holmes on Holmes?) there was a Canadian guy demonstrating a new sectional/segmented foundation repair tecnique on an older house that couldn't be lifted. Can't remember the name, sorry.

Wood structures are surprisingly flexible. (easily jacked) Superman and Steve both are on target. Furthermore "doing it right" is NOT a 200 year design solution. (tho' a 200 sol'n is likely what a contractor and/or code may push for.) Just tell the contractor that you're looking for a 40 year solution.

so if we figure this will take two weekends, 1 for demo and footings and 1 for construction, when are we doing this?
permits can be pulled by the homeowner in NJ if this is your primary residence.

Sure I can pull the permits but I need a digger , a rigger and a mason, not to mention someone to engineer the job.
