Those SDA's are an unruly bunch...
![]() I would offer that you're one of the few that practices what they preach. I'm willing to bet that some of our vocal OC contingent gladly enjoy the fruits of illegal immigrant labor while loudly pounding the drum of "reform." Should the borders be tightened? Certainly. Should there be better enforcement of the existing statutes? Yes. But the bottom line is that it comes down to PROFITS. Money and greed are what drives this. People want cheap food and cheap labor. Well...you got it. Companies want to make as much money as possible without regard to the laws. And they do. This is our problem, but I put the blame squarely on US, not on the immigrants. Most of them are just trying to make a living. We're the ones that are doing the exploitation for our own comfort. |

Do you think someone could arrange amnesty for LEGAL aliens first?
I suggest starting with the ones that have been in the country legally for 8 years or longer, have been stuck in the processing for their permanent resident status for the past three, are fully paid up on the processing fees, and have been paying taxes the entire time they've been here. What do you guys reckon? Should I get so angry when people have cheated the system and then want everything given to them for free, yet the ones that play by the rules get diddley squat?

I'd be glad to pay more for produce and gardening services, as long as I can stop paying the incredibly huge bill of social services the illegal imigrants rack up. Believe me, we'd all come out ahead.
If you robbed a 7-11 and said it was only because you wanted to provide for your family, would it still be a crime and still deserve punishment? Of course it would. How is that any different than breaking the law by smuggling yourself into a country and stealing something that other people paid for? Hint, it's the exact same thing. |

I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with seed.
Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table and next to the barbecue. Then came the poop. It was everywhere: on the patio tile, the chairs, the table...everywhere. Then some of the birds turned mean: They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud: They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food. After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be...quite, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal. Now lets see... Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, free education and allows anyone born here to be a automatic citizen. Then the illegals came by the tens of thousands. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 families: you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by an emergency room doctor: your child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English: Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to press "one" to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than "Old Glory" are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties. Maybe it's time for the government to take down the bird feeder. |

Sad how many of these people have no idea of American history or our laws. Like at the first big rally last year they were all waving Mexican flags. Carlos Mencia - "If you want to be Americans you idiots wave an American flag!"

The United States allows over 2,000,000 people to enter this country LEGALLY each year. I support that and welcome them, but I say that is plenty.
If they can do it, the paperwork isn't the problem. Sure government bureaucracy is a royal PITA, but the opportunity to live here is surely worth the hassle. 2 million people a year legally, that is enough. Allowing another million a year to enter illegally is too much. I've posted government studies here recently that proved illegal immigrants cost the US more than they contribute. In Los Angeles we have had several hospitals go bankrupt or close their emergency rooms because they were loosing too much money to stay open. Anyone, legal or illegal can walk in and get care. If they can't pay for it, they get it free. Problem is, about 45% of the people TAKING those services in certain areas were not paying for it. The government reimbursed the hospitals a little (and the people who live here LEGALLY paid for it), but it wasn't enough to cover the expenses. you can bring up the gardening and farm work and everything else all you want, but the bottom line is these criminals are taking more than they are giving and we pay for it. Plus they send some of the money they make back to their home country, which helps their economy and hurts ours. They are parasites who are slowly killing the host and will eventually make the US as bad as the place they came from. Keep letting the 2 million honest deserving people in, and lock the others out. Raids, deportation, huge fines for every company that employs them, and NO MORE automatic citizenship or entitlement to government services to those born here who have illegal parents. Send a message, stop the flow of thieves, punish Mexico and all countries for allowing it and supporting it. |

Agree. So what are we going to do about it??
Expect no help from the republicrats as they are part of the problem. Everyone, I think, has to get the message to their politicians (note: I didn't say 'representatives') that they will not get your vote if they don't come down on the correct side of the solution. These guys know that come election time all they have to do is make the other guy look worse and you'll vote republicrat out of fear so you "don't waste your vote". Bah! Time to vote for something instead of always against the 'other' guy. Our politicians need to get the message: I will not vote for any candidate for any office if that candidate advocates amnesty of any kind for illegal entrants. I will not vote for any candidate for any office if they will not wholeheartedly advocate relocating illegal entrants to their home country with the requirement that those illegal entrants go to the end of the line to apply for legal entry. I will not vote for any candidate for any office if they do not wholeheartedly embrace the need for a guest worker program which includes a definite, enforceable, date for guest workers to return to their home countries. ... and they have to know we mean it - even if it means voting for the 'other' party or a third/fourth party.

The "rule of law" is continually shifting, tabby.....subject to interpretation depending on the results the 'Powers That Be' desire. To think otherwise is naive indeed.
