Stupid idiots

Local news just had a story on about a guy that got hit by lightning today.

I look up as they cut to the guy, 20 ish with a big friggin earing in each ear, pierced nose, pierced lip, pierced cheek.

Well DUHH, if you've got a friggin pound of metal hanging out of your face DON"T GO OUT IN A THUNDER STORM YOU MORON!

JUst being a little picky, but would the metal really make a difference? I can appreciate that if it was in direct contact with the ground it may do, but surely just a metalic object in isolation wouldn't have a huge effect.

Nice to see Mother Nature starting to take matters into her own hands.

Unfortunately she's about 20 million other idiots behind the curve.

Zapped?

They forgot to mention that he had studs down the back of his Achilles tendon to some spikes under his shoes. Perfect ground. I wonder if he Flashed like a moth in a bug zapper!

Actually, the TV show Myth Busters did an episode on this question... turns out that, in the lab at least, you need to have something larger than a doorknob in your face for lightning to show any preference.
