Well Mo, when you state as you did that "More terrorism is, sadly, in our future. Their timetable, not ours," it saves me the trouble.

You can breathe now. I'm gonna tell you the solution, pain! See everybody wants to think that wars are won by killing soldiers. Not true. You win a war by making it too painful for the other side to continue. This age of political correct nonsense has too many people believing this is wrong. It may be. The Romans did it to the Carthaginians. Sherman did it to the Confederacy. We did it to Japan & Germany. Viet Nam did it to us. The principal is sound. If we don't do it to them, we will be facing east to pray 5 times a day. Big problems are rarely complicated. They do however require hard decisions.

+1. And unless we cut out this PC BS, at some point in the future they will obtain nuclear weapons from N. Korea or Iran. We know which countries support them, until we go after the source of this evil we're just slapping at flies. All of your comments reflect on historic military battles and NONE of that strategy applies to random, small groups, planning and carrying out acts of terrorism.

So tell all of us sir, which country/neighborhood/mosque/church/island/mountain range/compound/etc. do we attack first in your Grand Plan of "making THEM feel some pain?"

And PLEASE...indicate how YOUR plan would have stopped the idiot McVey?

I'm under the impression we are people fighting people. IMHO we announce, the next attack will result in the obliteration of the masque of ali & all other holy sites in Mecca, kabba stone & all. All holy sites in Medina will go as well. The dome of the rock in Jerusalem gets leveled also (the Jews will get a kick out of that). We expel all aliens from muslim countries & outlaw the practice of islam. American muslims can give it up or leave. We deal respectfully w/ the saudi's & tell them if they like the Bentleys & Ferraris they need to get on the stick, 'cause the toleration of all this murder has come to an end & if ya ain't with us, you're agin' us. We'll find out how many really want to meet allah.

No, this IS a country vs country issue. While it isn't a world war type scenario, these terrorists are getting a large amount of support from countries that are our "allies". Saudi Arabia is more than happy to take our oil money, then use it to support terrorist activities against us. Until we see these places for what they are, and take significant action against them, we are wasting our time.

We know where many of these terrorist camps are, but they are in other ME countries. If they won't take action, we should, sovereignty be damned. If they are assisting the terrorists, doesn't that put them at the same level?

Even nuclear weapons used against us will not alter the flow of history. It is a fair assumption that such a weapon would accelerate our dominance of the world rather than delay it.

Ahhhh yes ...Mule, there lies the problem. Since you didn't reply (your theory as applied to our home-grown McVey, if I may): that SOB was a U. S. military veteran. Should we start bombing VFW halls all across America? Was he Baptist? Put some laser guided munitions into a few churches in his home state, that should show those Baptists we mean business!

Whippedpuppy, you are correct. It is a people vs. people issue, with those individuals hiding among the general population. Certainly some M.E. nations harbor/condone them and I agree we have to pressure those leaders to act.

I am certainly not taking a 'head in the sand' approach by any means. I am saying that previous statements made here are unworkable in the fight against terrorism.

Just a heads up here...there is no shortage of training camps right here in the US.

I have plenty of faith in our military, none in our government. Unfortunately, the government tells the military what to do. I'm sure the military leadership is just as sick of this "pulled punches" war as we are.

My lack of faith is in our slimebag politicians. I didn't say we were losing. But I know this, if the soldiers were allowed to run the war instead of politicians we would be in much better shape. I have the utmost faith in our fighting men. I have great faith in America. I am also smart enough to realize that this PC foolishnes will cost the lives of many good men & women if it's continued.

Our government is of the 18th Century and it shows. Nothing is slower or done less well than those things done by government. Ever been to a court proceeding? Ever helped shape legislation? Heck, ever been to a school board meeting? I've done all three.

Compare what goes on there with what happens today in American business. With what happens in American science. With the American military. With a modern hospital. It is truly sad....

But it has ALWAYS been that way. Yet decade by decade (if not year by year - there are setbacks) we've still climbed up higher and higher and higher. America is still stronger than ever before. Richer than ever before. More free than ever before. More open than ever before. So why all the angst?

Yes, government is a drag. Sometimes I think it is supposed to be, rather than a leader. But we're fine. Always have been, always will be. Our government, with all its warts and obtuse officials is less of a drag than monarchy or religious zealotry or Godless Communism.

We have a better system. We are winning and will continue to win. Others who adopt our Western systems are starting to win more too. This strengthens us and makes it more plain that we are the wave of the future. Why do you think there is radicalism? It exists always during great change. It exists because people in backward areas are scared because they see their peaceful past being swept away by the dynamism of the West.

If the rest of the non-modern world was a fat lady, she'd be singing......
