When it's your time to go... think Costco!
Man, they really DO have everything at Costco!

Funny - although I still can't stomach the whole "membership" thing. Why do I have to pay them for the "privilege" of paying them for stuff I can get elsewhere?
Those prices are pretty good as caskets go though, but I bet they're made in China and will probably give the deceased lead poisoning. ![]()

BTW, anyone can use Costco for medicine. They are about 70% cheaper than any other place I have found for basic things.

Might be cost-effective then. . .
Although I don't think any of the ones around here have gas stations, unfortunately. There's one up in west LA, but there's no way I'm driving up there just to get gas - it would offset any benefit. Plus I avoid going to LA like herpes.

Jeff,
Costco and Sams Clubs are consistantly 7 to 10c cheaper on fuel here in my area, so its a no brainer for me. Well worth looking for. Hate to say it but when I am traveling long distances (Phoenix to San Diego for instance) I stop at Costco or Sam's along the way for fuel. The Costco in Yuma was 65c cheaper per gallon than a gas station 1 mile West in California. That really makes the stop worth it!

I was at a funeral recently that used a Costco casket. I helped carry it from the chapel to the hearse.
I was surprised at how nice it was! From what I heard, it was around $1000 to $1500 or so, and was nicer than the one the funeral home was trying to sell for $4000. In any event, the casket was only seen for around 2 hours total, anyways. The occupant seemed ok with it. |

Anyway, you could check their website for locations, I think they have one on Artesia in Gardena right where the 91 freeway ends, they also have stores in Cerritos and Torrance. I'm not a member but my dad and some of my friend are.

But how's the warranty on the casket?
Can't be too careful about zombie prevention, you know.

It would't surprise me at all if we save $1000 or more a year...especially when Gas is involved...

Toilet paper, mineral water, paper towels, computer paper, nuts, juice, soft drinks, salt, pepper, vitamins, garbage bags, glad wrap, cleaning supplies, razor blades, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, condoms, etc etc. All this stuff is much cheaper at the Big C - and it's all worth having in reserve - even if you are single.

Former Dell snob has recommended HP laptops from Costco for the last 3 computer purchases in the family. Can't beat the value and the extended 2 year warranty.

A buddy and I were JUST talking at lunch about what a ripoff funerals are in general. I intend to be cremated and before I get closer to that far off day (I hope) I will investigate the least expensive way for my children to do that.
YMMV, but that "thing" after I am dead, isn't "me". It isn't "Dad", "Dan, or "Grandpa". Its the case I used to come in. I don't want ANYONE seeing my body after I am dead. I don't want THAT to be their last memory of me. Anyone else feel this way? Spend the minimum possible on a funeral. Have a party with a big picture of me doing somethingtypically stupid and laugh at all the dumb things I said, did or opinions I offered. To me,THAT is the way to leave this place making a slight positive impact as you go out the door.

Plus, with anything you buy from Costco, if you are not happy with it, return it, no receipt needed, for up to 2 years, no questions asked and you get a full refund...
Just went there today and it was well worth the trip.
