Got tased today.... It was AWESOME!
I was at a trade show event today and a Taser rep was there. My wife just picked up one of the new C2 models and I was curious how effective they really were so the rep offered to hit me with one.
He had a cartridge set up with alligator clips for morons like me. Clipped one to my left boot lace and one to my right belt loop. (I did of course sign a waiver first). Then he had two folks hold me up. He hit me for 5 seconds from the X26 model. WOW! After like two seconds I was ready to tap out. It was pretty amazing how quickly it hits you. I must say that I was still able to control my arms since the current path was at my legs, although my ability to think about what was happening and what I was doing was very reduced. If I was thinking clearly, I might have tried pulling the wire off, but really all I could think of was "damn this sucks". When it stopped, I was instantly fine. Stood up on my own, laughing and shook the reps hand. I do have two very very tiny little burn marks from where the electricity entered and exited. It was really cool. I'm not even sure I would call it painful, it's not at all like getting physically hit or anything, but it is ridiculously uncomfortable. So much so that I can't think of anything like it. I highly recommend trying it if you ever have a chance. It looks much more painful on TV than it actually was. (Granted I was only hit for 5 seconds and anything longer would be insane.) Pat |

I suspect that having the barbs go into your skin probably makes it worse than if it has to go through your belt and shoe laces too.

I got tased a year ago February(?) at the SHOT show in Vegas. I recommend it as well. There's a story about it here somewhere.

Agreed, I also think that if the probes were closer there would be less resistance and it would pack more punch, but I'm not sure how it would propagate throughout the body.

I think if you were tazed in the proper fashion, you wouldn't be so happy about it.

Yes, as a part of training I was tasered. With the barbs shot from the taser. It sucked, end of story.
I am still impressed you offered to get hit. Next time put both alligator clips on your nipples like a man...errr...yeahhh, you know what I mean. |

Well fredmeister, the rep joked that one of the clips was going to that exact location... I can say with certainty that I would have chickened out at that point.
Bill, Since you got the real deal, how far apart did the barbs impact? Did the effects spread out over your entire body more evenly or was it still localized more near the barbs? Pat |

Had friends in high school. They used to hook up his train transformer to his nads and her cratch and turn the voltage dial. They were a pretty twisted couple.

They didn't impact that far apart, as it was in a controlled enviroment. I dropped like a sack of potatoes, and to be honest, it wasn't a localized effect. Ever seen anyone have a seisure (by no means am I being crass, or negative towards anyone with a health problem, merely pointing out a similarity), it was similar to that. I was able to stand not too long after, but is not something I really want to experience again.
Of course, I'd rather get tasered than knocked up side the head with an asp or baton. Bill |

The local LEO's have given the impression that if you didn't pee your pants you didn't get the full affect but they may have spoofing a bit.

I have no experience with tasers, but I have plenty with shock collars used in dog training. They all have variable voltage so the trainer can set the level for the desired affect, or based on the stubborness of the dog. Do tasers have the same adjustability? All I can say is that a dog collar on "one" really smarts. I've had dogs that wouldn't even flinch with one set on "eleven".

Bill, thanks for the info. I was assuming what you described was correct, good to know for sure. Chocaholic, yes. Jeff, from my understanding, some of the LEO ones have adjustable durations and frequency (number of shocks/second) but are not adjustable in strength of shock. I could be totally wrong there. I once shocked myself with a dog training collar as a kid. This was significantly more intense. |

Does it make you lose control of your. . . um. . . bodily functions? Involuntary muscle flexation and all that?
