Chihuahua, chiwawa, the dog.

Hi guys,
Someone ask me to post a forsales ad on couple chiwawa baby dogs. I went on searching the internet and found there are chiwawa and chihuahua. Are they the same or different. I know that there are 2 types of them. One is real small which you can put in your pocket. Is this the one people call "pocket chiwawa"? So if I call it chiwawa, then it's the normal kind then? Are chiwawa and chihuahua refer to the same dog or what is the different?
Thanks.

Only one way to spell it - Chihuahua. Seems they were bred as a ceremonial sacrifice animals.

From the net:

Information, Facts & Origins of the Chihuahua Dog Breed:

The Chihuahua originates from Central and South America and Mexico and its ancestors were bred originally for ceremonial sacrifices by the Aztecs and Toltecs. The Chihuahua is named after the Mexican state. It's origins can be dated back to antiquity. This dog is classified as one of the Toy Dog Group which we go on to describe in detail in the section at the bottom of this page. The Chihuahua was first Registered by the AKC (American Kennel Club) in 1904. Dog Name Facts and Dog Names:It is not surprising that the word Chihuahua is often misspelled in a variety of ways such as Chiwawa, Chihuhua, Chihauhua, Chihauhau, Chuhuahua and Chahuahua.

My wife was born in Cuidad Chihuahua. While visiting the parents, I was reading the touristica crap in the hotel room and found out that the dog is named after the city. They are not quite sure where the breed originated. But the City of Chihuahua, around 1900, had such a population of the friggen things, they were like the local rat. An extermination program was started and they wiped out most of the wild packs.

Sweet dogs - really! That are great at keeping the insect population at a minimum in your yard. These are real popular here in Nord Tejas as are Mexicans in general.
