Best Toaster? - Page 3

I admit that I stepped up and bought a very expensive Espresso Machine.

The last machine I had was a Krups and it lasted for 7 years before it gave up the ghost. When I went looking for another one that was suitable it eventually led me to the high dollar high flautin deluxe model.

HOWEVER...that model is really very simple. It has a power button, and a button to start the extraction process. It has 2 valves, one for steam and the other for hot water. What makes it costly is that it is hand built made like a tank in the good ole US of A. Everything inside is copper and commercial quality components made to last.

Tabs - Some may say you're F'NUTZ! - They're SPOONS for christs sake....remember the old addage the best is not always the best. All those geegaws are just a waste...the object of the game is to stir the sugar in your tea...not send a rocket to Mars...

Go to Wallmart and buy the cheapest spoon they have..thats around 10 cents. It has a wide end and a small end....etc

Of course, that's easy for me to say and I don't yet know of anyone who collects toasters

Is there a toaster-oven that's not made in China? Just trying to side step the inevitable product safety recall.

That looks and sounds like a fine machine.

I'm not a toaster aficionado, but I do appreciate well made products built with precision and high quality parts.

Did you have a bad experience with a fine toaster when you were a child?

Why yes I did have a traumatic experience with a Toaster before, how did you know?

Mother took one and put it under the blanket when I was a child and said, "That oughta keep you warm tonight ya little B@st@rd, so stop you whining that your cold."

She was trying to fool me that it was an electric blanket...

We are talking about BURNING some bread here, not about fine art...it doesn't take creativity to do that.

When you MAKE coffee you are creating the taste of something. Your not making the bread here....so the quality of the bread which effects taste is not an issue...just some brown on the bread...and cheap works as well as expensive in this instance.

Not sure I like the aluminum finish on the DeLonghi... it might be okay in satin black.

Clealy more research is required.

Some might argue that making coffee is just running hot water over ground beans.

Surely you have experienced a fresh piece of bread toasted just the right amount, evenly across the surfaces of both sides of the bread? And when the toasting is done quickly and with an appropriately regulated temperature, it leaves the inner part of the bread soft and warm, not dry and crusty.

Toasting is a brief form of cooking.

I feel that another world of "appreciation" awaits you.

Kurt, bread is so pedestrian. Toasted croissants are the way to go.

Well, Frog, I like croissants too, but I was raised on toasted white bread.

That said, a wide slot toaster that could accommodate a sliced croissant would be excellent.

For me there is something special about a lightly and uniformly toasted slice of bread which leaves the inside of the slice warmed, but not toasted. If you've never had such a piece of toast, your life is incomplete and unfulfilled.

Is that a metric scale in the back corner? Are you doing a lot of gram weighing for some reason?

Is the price of my vintage toaster appreciating in today's market? Can they really sustain 200+ prices?

Careful of those croissants they're loaded with fat. Go with the black tea and a non mythological tea set. You might consider some some interesting whole grain breads. They are anything but common. My rule is I pick up the heaviest loaf.
