Yup . . . and we're just getting started.

Some "revelations" have already occurred.

Best,

Unfortunately Target were out of F-15 engines when I went in so I ended up with this...

...cheap, extra wide and extra long slots, all the settings you need, and the best bit - blue LED indicators!

There's a lot of threads I don't click on and this was one of them, but when it reaches 4 pages I have to look. PPOT is always good for a chuckle or two .

My two cents: go to Bed Bath & Beyond, they'll have many to choose from that aren't cheap Wal-Mart crap and they aren't stupid expensive.

I would avoid Dualit!

We bought this POS several years ago.

It was a huge waste of money. It has never made a good piece of toast. You have to flip the bread top to bottom and reverse at least once during each use. Even if you warm the stupid toaster for 20 minutes it doesn't help.

I tried several times to contact Dualit customer service, but they never answered. (By the time we realized how bad this toasted sucked, we had gone past the retailer's return policy.)

I would recommend buying something cheap at target or wally world. I could have bought one of each for what this POS cost!

Good luck!

I am not an expert on toasters, but I'm definitely an expert on toast. There has been a disturbing trend in restaurants in recent years not to explain to the help what the word "toast" means. Some people like it light and some people like it dark, but no one on earth likes it when it arrives as a hot, wet piece of bread. It's ****ing maddening, I cannot get a proper piece of toast anywhere these days! I usually have to ask for it burnt, (even though that is not how I like it), just to get it toasted. Makes me nutty.

I would think that a decent *made in China* Target unit would suffice if it had the right operator, but I have also encountered some newer, fancy toasters that take 10 minutes to brown a piece if bread. I've told many a restaurant that they need a new toaster. WTF is the world coming to, people??

It's been over six months since I started this thread and I am sure many of you have grown restless wondering what toaster I decided on.

I picked up a nice, inexpensive Oster two-slice model, bagel ready with what seems like a really handy retractable power cord. It was only $20 and this is the route Tabs had suggested and to which I was initially opposed. I guess when it came time to lay down the money, my more reasonable side emerged.

I'll let you know the quality of the toast this black beauty makes in the next couple of days. It will also see some waffle and bagel action.

Looks nice, yes?
