Thumbs up Quiz to help in Selecting a Candidate for 2008

Quiz to help in Selecting a Candidate for 2008

Having trouble deciding who to vote for in 2008?

I found this to be of interest .... It did not select the candidate I had expected! But close. Only takes a couple of minutes.

All the candidates suck, just to varying degrees. If only we could just draft someone from the general population. How about a pick the shortest straw methodology?

Dennis Cucinich.

As expected I did not fully grasp the content of all the questions and, heck, I am just a for'ner who have not even heard of this Dennis character.

Is he a Democrat or Republican then ?

Quote:
Even The New York Times could not ignore Kucinich’s failures as mayor in a 2003 candidate profile:

But it all came crashing quickly down when Mr. Kucinich presided over the city's plunge into default in 1978. The collapse attracted international ridicule and, except for a brief sojourn on the City Council in the early 80's, left the obstreperous boy wonder in political exile for 15 years...[he] was elected mayor in 1977 and governed the city with a tight circle of friends. But Cleveland's finances, already troubled, spiraled out of control. The climactic moment came in December 1978, when the city was unable to meet $14.5 million in bond obligations. Despite pressure from the business community, Mayor Kucinich refused to sell the municipal electric system to cover the debt. Cleveland went bust, as did his career.

No wonder you liked him

Interesting quiz. It was posted on here a few weeks back. Rudy was my 2nd choice, probably who I would vote for right now.

That's odd. The best-match candidate only agreed with about half of my positions. Either I'm a nut-case or there are no good candidates. I'm not discounting either possibility...

Hmm. It picked Gulianni for me. Too bad there are several things we disagree on. Immigration being the biggest disagreement I think, next to Iraq, which should be turned into the world's largest window.

McCain. We differed on Iraq and abortion, but when you read his "opinion", in both cases it matches what I believe. On the Iraq question, I would like to have marked 2 of the answers. On abortion, I don't like it, but I agree that abortion should continue to be legal, however the constitutional rational is pretty shaky.

Juliani? I am surprised. I am definitely a Libertarian now and I didn't get matched to one. I guess it only does Dem/Rep.

I was also amazed that not one of the topics to me was worth rating most important.

Giuliani/Biden(!)/Hunter. A little surprising, but not terribly.

I really wish Giuliani would update his position on illegal immigration, then I'd find him a much more appealing candidate.

The problem with quizzez like this, as livi's results point out, is that they only match up your and the candidate's opinions on issues. It takes no account of the candidate's intelligence, ability to govern, etc. I'd be happy to vote for a candidate that I didn't agree with on several issues, if I thought they'd be a good leader, and vice versa, even if I agreed with all their positions, if I thought they'd be a crappy leader then forget it.

Besides, do you really expect any politician, dem or rep, to actually hold to their convictions once elected?

Bingo!

This is how Bilary got elected in the first place. Find out what the people want and tell them what they want to hear - all the while hiding your real agenda and character flaws...

Ditto Du(m)bya. Politicians in general are liars, cheats and manipulators - regardless of whatever label they try to slap on themselves.
