Border Issue
Glenn Beck had guys on last night saying that Mexican troops are coming across the border to provide protection for drug smugglers & wetback trafficers. This Sheriff was talking about fire fights w/ Mexican troops armed w/ 50 cal machine guns.

It's an old story ...and true.
My nephew is a US Immigration Officer involved in Detention & Deportation. Though he currently works up North, they (offices) all swap stories. Similar to cops being outgunned by criminals, but there (southern border) they have actually encountered Mexican troops (or those dressed/armed as such) ....as our Government twiddles its thumbs.

Suggestion:
Take the Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California National Guard and line those borders for the next two years. Throw in some "shoot to kill orders". Has to cost less than deploying them overseas and maybe just send a message that we are not going to continue to tolerate this shyt! Make an effort Mr. Bush!

This is most likely the case. When you drive through Mexico, most police units are dressed in para-military garb. You can't always tell the difference between Federales and the local-yokels. It wouldn't take much for the traffickers to adopt the idea of "cross-dressing" as militia.

Drive through Mexico, you kill me with that. Maybe 30 years ago in $500 car to go surfing, but not now.
Just because they are wearing fatigues and have the right weapons does not make them Mexican Army, and even if they are, the money floating around has a strong corrupting influence. Would not be the first time one of those guys turned out to be dirty if it did play out like that, or they could be narco soldiers. It is bad North and South, with respect to the borders, if you ask me.

But Mexico has oil, and Canada has oil. Bend over America.

I can't believe that people have a hard time thinking Mexican troops would get involved in this. One rancher found Mex Army ID on his ranch, 65 mi. from the border. Think about how you would feel if you looked out your kitchen window & saw well armed troops marching through your farm or ranch & couldn't get anybody to do anything about it!

U.S. gubmint could care less about Mexican border security. The politicians just want their business backers to be able to cut their overhead costs with cheap labor so as long as they keep buying off the politicians, the politicians will continue to look the other way and do nothing meaningful. Follow the money.
In 50 years, half of America will be a third-world country.

Yep. When you see Repubs & Dems on the same side of an issue, back up to the wall & put your hand on your wallet.
Jeff, you might have hit the nail on the head. All this middle class really doesn't benefit the ultra-rich. They'd just as soon have cheaper maids & servants.

The implication being that somehow capitalism works less well than government intervention (or lack thereof)? You Big-Brother-knows-best types have had your chance - and failed miserably on all fronts.
Time for the citizenry that actually cares about our country and economy and system to start taking over the duties seized by government buffoons that don't care. One Constitutionally-provided method of handling this is to have individual state militias handle issues like this, but of course the big government proponents paint any such efforts on the part of citizens as being the work of "kooky survivalists". Hell, if CA sent out the call for a state militia to patrol our borders tomorrow, I'd sign up.

We run into Mex military on the border all the time. The mex military are often used to scout or escort drug loads into the US. A few months ago my partner and I were patroling and desert and came up on a Humvee. We thought it was our guys untill they statrted speaking spanish and approached us in a threating way with their rifles pointed at us. We also run into AFI (Mexican FBI) flying their blackhawk lights out on our side scouting to get their drug loads across.

1) Are you LEO or MIL? 2) Did you shoot? 3) If answer to 2 above is "no", why not? 4) Can Civilians open fire on armed foreign military when on this side of the border? (After all, we ARE the militia...and I'm itching for a "good shoot".) Last edited by Danny_Ocean; 11-12-2007 at 09:06 PM.. |

Danny:
1. LEO 2. We did not shoot, it was only me and my partner and our 40 cal pistols against 10-12 fully armed mex military. It was at night and we were on quads so our best choice was to get out of there and call for back up. When they put the national guard on the border it was more of a pain than actual help. |

No sense of humor here, this is American soil and if I saw a group of Mexican troops on my property they would be lying on the ground and secured, then all their weapons and such secured. All property would then be siezed and they would be escorted to the closest jail.
