A note of interest...

I just thought it was interesting that even though the crappy wireless connection in my college library won't connect to any other sites (including Google), it will miraculously pull up Pelican Parts BBS, thereby giving me a reasonable distraction to put off the important work I'm supposed to be doing.

Thanks Wayne! (this is genuine; no sarcasm is intended)

I just thought that was interesting and worth pointing out, hehe.

Just wait until the "Grid Guys" thread is started for the ladies of PPOT! Then Katie will have a better reason to cruise OT while at school!

Hehe thanks guys for the comments!

With about a week left till the semester ends (thank god!) I've been up to my elbows in papers, presentations, projects, etc, not to mention a 10-15 pg research paper on something about the Jehovah's Witnesses (it's a religion class) and I haven't even started it b/c I'm not sure I'll be able to get 10 pages out of it...so I haven't been on here too much lately...but I miss you guys! you can always make me laugh and smile, and I appreciate that!

Here's a new pic of me with my fave emblem:

I call it 'The New & Improved Porsche911girl'

and in the background you can see a Cayman peeking out from behind the sign...this photo was taken at the Charlotte Int'l Auto Show (more pics to come)

Good luck on the research paper on the Jehovah's. I did business with them for years, sold them paper for their Watchtower and Awake publications. Interesting group, there should be plenty of information on them available. They have Kingdom Halls all over the country, find one and go make a visit, just don't drive the Pcar. They'll want to convert you so be careful.

They do enjoy the finer things in life on occasion (especially when someone else is paying), we used to go to the River Cafe in Brooklyn when I took the purchasing agent to lunch. Have fun!!

Hi Katie, I couldn't help but notice your sweatshirt...do you go to Wake Forest? Now put down those damn guitars and get back to work !

ps: Maybe we can help with the JW paper...I'm sure we can come up with 10 pages of stuff to say when they show up at your front door!

Hey Keith,

thanks for noticing the shirt! I don't go to WFU but my dad did, he graduated in '77 and teaches there in the fall.

We're huge Demon Deacons fans in my house, we went to both the Orange Bowl and ACC Championship Bowl, and we're hoping they're gonna get the bowl game here in Charlotte; otherwise, we'll have to freeze our butts off in Nashville!

I actually just got back from watching their basketball team lose to UNCC (I didn't see that one coming)...

As for the JW paper, any help on that would be GREAT!!! It's supposed to be something to do with Supreme Court cases that they've won, thereby preserving our first amendment rights, and somehow I'm supposed to find a common theme throughout the cases and weave that into the paper. Luckily, most of the big cases can be found online, but they're quite long, so that's gonna be fun...

As for them showing up at my door, they've done that earlier in the year. I was home alone on a Saturday morning and these two nice old ladies came to the door with their Watchtower and started talking to me, and me, being me, couldn't be rude or turn them away, so I listened to them for probably 10 minutes or so. They seemed nice, but a bit out of touch with reality, in my opinion. And they had no car, so I'm guessing someone let them off at the top of the street and they made their way down or something...it was interesting. Wish I could find that copy of the Watchtower they gave me, I could use it in the paper.

Wifes patient dies.

Don't know if you have seen and read the above thread but it involves JW's beliefs and some members here that are knowledgeable. Obviously, it can be a very heated issue. Good luck

Hi Katie, I work in W-S, so naturally Wake is my "home team" (particularly in basketball), but I'm not a fanatic. I was being facetious about the JW paper...(i.e. ten pages of stuff to say that will get them to leave). I don't think "answering the door naked with a beer in hand, and asking if they want one" will help your grade, but good luck with the paper!

Hey widgeon,
thanks so much for that link! That's very helpful and informative, and I can use the MSNBC article in my research paper--awesome!
