Ok, WTF is up with the WOOD steering wheel that looks like he his nephew made it in shop class? He lists at least 2 different engine displacements, both of which appear to be wrong. That interior.....dear god.....

What is up with the front trunk lid? Why would you post photos when it isn't fully closed.

Yeah, the 2.2l with carbs seemed to indicate 911T, and the VIN plate verified it. It is so ricer to up badge a car.

LOL! That's right down the street from me. I should go down there and see if I can save it.

Hmmmm. Now that I'm thinking about it, I could buy it, sell off all the fugly parts and probably not be in too deep for a halfway decent early 911.

Didn't you know, T = Turbo

Looks like a decent car to start a project with, but who knows what the pictures are hiding (bubbling fenders, etc).

The engine looks pretty clean; The cosmetic details are easy to correct. At least he did not put a slantnose kit on it or a V8...

The seller doesn't know anything about the car, and the guy who owned it doesn't have any money. Places like that are pawn shops for cars, desperate people go there to get ultra high interest, last ditch loans, basically leaving their pink slips as collateral.

I knew a guy who owned a biz like that. Very lucrative! He made so much money on the loans, he didn't bother trying to retail the junkers that he was left with on defaulted loans, and just dumped them to low line wholesale auction companies.

I've been looking for a 70 Turbo S with horrible wheels and a wood steering wheel for some time now. What luck!!

I think the boot is open due to the dent in the front bumper.

I'd change the steering wheel, seats, wheels and enjoy.

What's the big deal?

Not the worst for sale by far. easily correctable, may be a deal if it runs and isnt too rusty. you could always pay 25-35k for one thats correct.

I looked at a bunch of 911s the other day on ebay. They list them starting with the ones nearest you first. I then looked at the expired ones--and found almost none sell. Very very few. Mostly because the bids don't meet the reserve.

I suspect some of those unsold cars are really sold--off ebay. The ebay commision can be a healthy chunk of change when you are selling a car for 20 grand.

The main function of ebay is to list a car for sale and get a bunch of potential buyers. The real deal is probably done off ebay. so you don't see it. Probably most cars are sold to buyers within driving distance of the car, who can look at it without too much trouble. That has been my experience a couple of times. I would not recommend buying any car that you can't see yourself.

Unless you're dealing with an older 911, in my experience the best way to buy a late model Porsche is from a Porsche dealership--preferably Porsche certified. The prices are competitive with most private selling (e.g., Panorama listings). As for the older ones, don't buy one unless you work on the car yourself.

Ebay doesn't charge a commission on vehicle sales.
For passenger cars, you par $40 to list the car and then another $50 IF the car sells. That's it.

True. Most just pay the listing fee, which is actually quite cheap, and use it as a way to get national exposure for their car. I just did it with my SC last summer. A guy out of Utah saw it on E-bay flew in and bought it.

Some cars do sell on E-bay though. When I originally bought my car I did it though E-bay.

Nothing there that won't fix - I'd take it home for the right price. Redo the interior and drive it for a while. If it runs decent, I could probably make a fair profit on it when I sold it.

That is a stock MOMO steering wheel, FWIW.

Not their finest effort, IMO.
