The rest of us would recognize that pretty quickly as a 356, not a "911 RSR". The author screwed up the headline and the opening paragraphs, but he did somehow get it right further down the article:

The cabin of the unique Porsche 356 RSR Outlaw Coupe by Emory & Momo houses a sports steering wheel, a Rothsport gear selector, fiberglass bucket seats wrapped in fabric, and a stout bolt-on roll cage.

I've known Gary and Rod for an awfully long time. While they no longer hold one every year, I haven't missed a campout in 20 years or more. Good times with some really good people.

Gary and Rod always described this car to me as a kind of 935 tribute 356. Essentially, how a 356 would have been modified following the 935 philosophy. A rear view shows that whole idea a bit better, with the same treatment on the rear "wings" (fenders to us) as a 935. Stock profile hiding under radically extended wings. You can definitely see the 935 influence in it. Makes me wonder if the author ever even talked to Gary or Rod.

Many conflicting and curious reports, descriptions and interviews regarding this creation. The quote of it being a 911 with custom made aluminum bits to mock a 356 is just one of them.

The below doesn't quite explain the in progress photos I've seen at the Emory website with the claim 911 essential chassis and suspension points were used and artfully blended into a 356 chassis (see far below highlighted in dark red font).

Don't worry; Emory didn't chop up a pristine, Rennsport-ready car. Only a roof (and presumably a VIN plate) was taken from the donor 1960 356B coupe, as "the rest of the body panels were destined for scrap." From there, Emory stretched a hand-sculpted aluminum skin over a 1990 Porsche 964 911 chassis, handiwork that included a new nose, tail, decklid, and one-piece hood. The only externally visible 911 bits are the modified rocker panels.

Only a 356 roof?

What about that windshield and interior?
