If I were President, I'd drill in ANWAR and run out the supply in less than 2 years. Even with the fuk-ups of the past 7 years the USA is still the 800 pound gorilla of the world economy and we account for over 20 % of the world GDP and even more of the wealth.

Did it ever occur to you guys who want to "kill" to get the oil that rightfully belongs to other nations that we just buy it like we have for the past 40 years?

Do you really want cheap oil and dead people or to have a secure supply at market price?

In the inprobable situation you describe, and if your goal is a secure supply at market price, I would think you'd look to Canada and others (Russia, Norway, Venezuela ect...) to help pick up the slack in the short term.
