http://www.costco.com/Browse/ProductSet.aspx?Prodid=11206203&whse=BC&topnav=&cat=21278&hierPath=21277*&lang=en-US

I nearly pissed my pants.

Yeah - Costco in Burbank now sells Mercedes Benz cars - in some cases $10K below MSRP.

My friend plans to buy his next car there.

Problem is in CA a 2008 chassis would be required to meet 2008 emissions. I'm not 100%, but I think this applies to kits too.

$80k plus you have to spend another $20k on a drivetrain? That's not so great a deal.

If you assemble the kit, they give out a limited number of registrations(lasts about the first two days of January) and it gets a pass.

If you buy it assembled, it has to pass 2008 smog rules, or whatever year it is.

Kirkham motors build the aluminum bodied cobras and they are amazing. Every detail is perfect! They also do not sell the drive train. This is so the car can still be produced as a "kit" and you can bypass all the DOT bu11sheeeyte. Kirkham has a local company that can build and install various drive train systems.
