well, Ten Commandments was released in 1956 and Babel in 2006 so looks like half a century.

isn't this nice and straight forward?

No, you tell us.

Every time someone quotes the Bible, someone else quotes what seems to be a contradiction...

from the Bible.
So, if some one asks you about, say, a movie, you wouldn't suggest going to watch it?

Sure seems to make it easier to discuss damn near anything if both parties have at least reviewed the material.

Racial characteristics are only minor variations among people groups. Scientists have found that the basic genetic difference between two people anywhere in the world, is typically around 0.2 percent, even if they came from the same people group. The so called "racial" characteristics that people think are major differences (skin color, eye shape, ect) account for only 0.012 % of human biological variation. If a white person is looking for an organ match for instance, the best possible match may happen to come from a black person, and visa versa. The facts show that there are differences among us, but they stem from culture, not race. Science has discovered that there is only one major pigment, called melanin, that produces our skin color. There are two main forms of melanin: eumelanin (brown to black) and pheomelanin (red to yellow) These combine to give us the particular shade of skin that we have. Geneticists have found that four to six genes, each with multiple variations control the amount and type of melanin produced. Because of this, a wide variety of skin shades exist. In fact, it is quite easy for one couple to produce a wide range of skin shades in just one generation.

Kind of like on the evolution thread, when people say, go read Orgin of the Species and take some advanced science classes if you want to understand evolution.

No, you tell us.
tables sre turned huh?

Kind of like on the evolution thread. Someone quotes one theory and another scientist contradicts him. (microbes, sponges, crystles)

How about stopping 1/2 or 2/3rds the way across the country and living in a normal place? The two coasts are full and eventually the third coast will get that way as well.

Now might be a good time to find some land somewhere else so you can settle down and read the Bible, among other books...

Joe, I've lived in MN, TX and Chicago, as well as CT, Western MA and NYC and Westchester.

MN was heaven, one of the best states in the country.

TX (Victoria) left permanent scars. While I can imagine worse places to live, it's the worst place (of many) I have lived. Austin and San Antonio are nice cities. Victoria...hellhole.

Chicago is 3rd on my list of great cities.

FWIW Jeff, I'm a gospels guy. Have read the NT twice and firmly believe that only the Gospels are even close to the Word of God(TM) and they are all you need. In fact, I believe that Saul/Paul was actually Satan. That man's Letters are pure evil.

Various races that is. If the Bible is the infallible Word of God(TM), why is there absolutely nothing about how the various races were created in it? If Adam and Eve were two Race X people, how'd we get so much variation in race, and furthermore, if God saved only Noah and his family, did Noah's family represent ever race as we know it today? And how did the Chinese language and Native American language and a few hundred others form in only a few thousand years, and better yet, WHY? If Noah and his family got off the Ark, why would they populate the world and then create completely different languages and modes of communication?
Why do you insist on asking here when it is all in the bible? If you are really curious you should study the book. If you're not really interested and are just trying to discredit something you fear, then get a life.

Old testament re: tribes.
Here's something to chew on for a little while. No, I'm not saying it's accurate (it's one mans interpretation) , but it is an interesting topic for discussion.

Tribe Modern Nation
Dan Netherlands
Judah Russia
Reuben Sweden
Gad Spain
Asher Austria/Hungary
Naphtali Germany
Manasseh United States
Simeon France
Levi Switzerland
Issachar Serbia
Zebulun Greece
Joseph US/UK
Benjamin Israel

I read the entire bible, cover-to-cover 3-1/2 decades ago. I thought it was pretty weird. Lots of justified killings, lots of waving entrails of animals over your head seven times while you had a specified number of rings on the curtains of the tent, weird stuff. Lot getting drunk with his daughters and them having sex with him to have progeny, again weird stuff. Women who used to have sex with men who had members like donkeys and emissions like horses, honestly it's in there I remember reading it!

If Adam and Eve existed and had Able and Cain, where did other people come from? By Able and Cain having sex with Eve?

I AM NOT going to be subscribing or contributing to the religious threads, I'm just not interested.

Why? Because the rules have changed since the Testaments were written. A miracle now is someone surviving a plane crash, or a pizza displaying the image of the Madonna (assuming she posed for a portrait at some point in her life thus we know what she looked like). You just don't see those sea-parting, two-by-two, first-born male, wine from water type miracles anymore. Kinda disappointing, really. Our modern lame-miracle perspective makes it really hard to take the bible literally. Back then apparently anything could happen.

Uhh, first of all, it was Noah. second, you keep the animals in separate cages. In regards to incest, each person inherits a set of genes from their mother and father. Genes today contain many mistakes, and these mistakes show up in a variety of ways. The more closely related two people are, the more likely it is that they will have similar mistakes in their genes, inherited from the same parents. However this fact did not apply to Adam and Eve because they were created perfect (pre-curse) When sin entered the world because of Adam, God cursed the world so that the perfect creation began to degenerate. Over a long period of time, this degeneration would result in all sorts of mistakes occurring in the genetic material of living things. It is not until the time of Moses (about 2500 years later) that degenerative mistakes would have accumulated to such an extent in the human race that it would be necessary for God to bring in the laws forbidding brother-sister (and close relative) marriage. And that is exactly what God did. (Leviticus 18-20) Also, there were plenty of people on the earth by now, and there was no reason for close relationships to marry anymore.

Well there 'ya go... somehow it was possible to collect two of every species on the planet (because it is my understanding that it was not just a small local flood) and put them all on one boat for a month and feed them. I don't know how Noah and his family managed to get North American Bison and Kangaroos over to his place, but like I said: the rules have changed since biblical times.

edit: and why the heck did God see it necessary to bring along the venemous snakes, wasps and mosquitoes !!
