Al's film is one of the best comedies I've ever seen.

I'm not saying we have zero impact. But I am saying that one good volcano has more impact in an afternoon than man has in 10,000 years. The Earth has very good recovery ability.
My grandfather was a boy in the days before electricity. What we have done in the last hundred years is hard to comprehend if you didn't experience it. You clearly haven't. The stuff that we have done that you don't want to see isn't pretty, but decimating world wildlife and depleting the oceans of fish would be high on the list. Upsetting the natural balance really defeats recoverability.

Are you living in the world as it is, or the world as it suits you ? Don't feel you have to worry about mercury in the oceans, but do realize that it comes from coal fired emmissions. We do effect the world, in sometimes not so small ways. It is just happening in a slow enough manner that many choose not to notice. Superficially this world resembles the world I grew up in fifty years ago. Even so, this is a profoundly different world.

I believe solar flares have a gazillion times more influence on the climate than mankind ever will.

How come whenever politicians or "scientists" talk about man's effects on whatever, the subject of over-population seems to be taboo? It's almost not politically correct to say that there are just too darned many people alive, but it's true.
Things would be better if there were only about half as many people. Or a third.
Very true Sammy. I think we are on the same side of this one.

For every negative you've mentioned I can list 50 positives. Is there a point here?
