Hulk Hogans kid gets 8 months
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5jWJrAKuprRhqXwDIXJJsCCMlmYawD90IF0V00
I pretty impressed with the legal system for giving this kid some time. There was fault on all parties involved but the other kid is already punished for life. |

Given that this situation happened, I can't fault the Bolleas handling of it.
And I was just as irresponsible a driver when I was 17. Thank God I never got into an accident.

That will be around 4 months in jail, but its the probation thats going to do him in, He will never stay clean during that period at age 17

It's probably fair to say "That sucks" but IMHO he earned it. His friend got a much longer sentence and he was just the passenger.

Hate to tell you, but this is what happens to most first-time offenders like this. Most never make this mistake again. Some (a small percentage) will be back repeatedly over the course of their lives. They will lose their license, and still get arrested for driving without a license.

Nick should have never been driving with three tickets from 16-17 - two going over 100mph. His father showed poor judgement in; #1 letting him continue to drive. #2 Letting drive a 650hp Supra #3 still wearing that stupid bandana.
I'm guessing he will end up paying for that lapse of judgement in the civil suit. On another note - it's sobering he he got jail time. He's 17 - John was in his early 20's. John on his own got into the car and decided on his own not to wear his seatbelt. There is not enough time to explain all the stupid things I did when I was 17. It's a tragedy all the way around - Nick will live with that vision of his buddy as a veggie the rest of his life.

His passenger was willing in the car and willing not wearing a seatbelt. Don't get me wrong. I agree the kid is a punk but how much time is enough? 5 yrs ? 10yrs. How do you justify a longer sentence? ...and WTF does GMAFB mean? |

I think the jail time is sufficient and agree that a civil suit will probably follow. It was a tragic mistake - a mistake that most young men are lucky enough to have avoided at one point or another.

I vote fair punishment. 98% of us probably did things just as stupid. Fortunately I didn't have a turbo Supra to do it in. Horribly unfortunate all around.

Does no one think that the guy wearing the seatbelt bears responsibility for his condition?
Come on, when he got into that car he knew exactly what was going to happen: they were going to cruise around and drive recklessly. It's not like the son forced him into the car against his will, removed the seatbelts, and then intentionally crashed--yet that is how some of you treat the accident.

I don't think the passenger went for a ride and wanted to end up a veggie.
It is 80% Nick's fault and 20% John's. |

Hmm...could be a reason for his divorce...if the wife takes 1/2, then the Hulk only has that much less to fork over in a civil judgment.
Regardless, he more than likely has a liability (umbrella) and/or homeowners policy that will pay the max and protect his assets...unless he is a dumbsheet. |
