Term limits for every public office.

Legalize all drugs and dismantle the DEA.

Sales tax as the only form of taxation, and dismantle the IRS.

No retirement plan for elected public officials. They can use the one they put together in private life, like the rest of us.

Single item bills; no riders. Won't need line item veto authority with this one.

Massive import taxes on goods meant for retail sale or components of goods meant for retail sale.

Withdraw from the U.N. Charge them exhorbident rent if they want to stay.

Withdraw all troops from foreign lands and close all foreign bases.

Provide a one time grace period for illegals to leave. If caught after that, life in prison. With the guy in Arizona. No parole.

Eliminate all foreign aid.

No permanent police departments; elected sheriffs only. Term limits apply - same for their deputies.

Eliminate NASCAR.

Very enjoyable thread Most of my hot button issues have already been well vetted, however:


- Set a strict limit on the number of lawyers who are allowed to take the bar every year...if a prospective lawyer doesn't pass the exam the first time, they cannot take it again. Study harder, Sparky.

- Return to the States the power vested in the constitution.

- Eliminate seniority appointments in the House and Senate. Make the process random.

- Eliminate all preferential programs in academia based on race and gender.

- Eliminate the Department of Education then review every federal agency with an eye towards deconstruction.

- No one is allowed to declare intent to run for president more than four months out from their party's convention. All candidates then have just two months after the convention until the general election. The amount of bandwidth that is wasted on our political process is odd and unnecessary.

I'd just add, clean up the prison system. Release those there for non-violent drug offenses. And make a serious effort to rehabilitate those that remain - or put them to work. It's such a huge waste of human capital as it is.

Reduce the role of the US military to a defensive one. And international peacekeeping. And disaster relief. No more ill-judged adventurism abroad.

Legalize, regulate and tax drug use. Use the $$ generated for treatment facilities, homeless housing etc.

Universal healthcare.

And an absolutely relentless focus on better education across the board.

Index entitlements like social security to life expectancy.

Limit the growth of government spending to the growth rate of the economy.

Any illegal immigant given any form of amnesty needs to go home and wait and can never sponsor any other family member to enter the USA. And immigent under the poverty level cannot sponsor any family member. No welfare, earned income credits or section 8 for green card holders or illegals.

$5,000 cash at the border for any illegal to go home and NEVER come back.

Flat tax - no deductions, exemptions, or credits.

Not only would it simplify the tax process and save a pile of time and money, it would eliminate political "vote buying". Candidates could no longer buy votes buy promising favored (or punitive) tax treatment for this-or-that group.

Mandate (edit: public school) K-12 students take the bus or walk/ride bike to school. NO MORE PARENT DROP OFF!!! Saves gas and reduces traffic...

Why term limits? Why not give them a salary cap and legally ban them from taking contributions and gifts from anyone.
