Marcus, your a big man, and i'm sure that even in these situations, where most would break
you're the best doctor that little girl and her parents could ever hope to have

Keep that in mind, hold on to that, know that even the worst of job,
needs to be done, and does make the difference if done right

Mental note:
Move down to southern Sweden (close to Marcus that is) when/if i get children.

Hoppas det inte låter fånigt, men tackar för din insats och jag önskar att du i övrigt får en riktigt bra sommar!

Thanks, Keith!

Yes, two hours left at the hospital. Then on home for a relaxing weekend with my kids and a couple of six packs.

Good doctors know their job, and are good at it. Great doctors know their job, are good at it, and ease the suffering of their patients, both physically and emotionally. You have compassion Markus, somewhat rare in the medical field. You're doing everything you can for that girl and her family, beyond the call of duty. That is positively admirable. You're a good man, just remember that modern medicine cannot cure everyone, fair or unfair sometimes God takes them back too soon.

Marcus would it help if bikini clad women greated you at home with a cold beer?

It's Sweden, aren't there St. Pauli girls on every corner?

What he needs is a tour of America. Come visit us! Gustav, the administrator of M5board, made a 30 day tour of America. He's also from Sweden. He traveled from state to state with BBS members, staying at their homes (mostly) and going from town to town in their M5s. They would meet and hand him off to the next member. They also scheduled periodic large meets, track days, stuff like that. I think he hit something like 35 states while he was here. It's time for the Markus tour of America!

Well done Markus. Our pediatrician disappeared after our son was diagnosed with terminal metastatic osteogenic sarcoma and we never forgave him. It probably was a simple defensive mechanism to avoid dealing with the emotional challenges of a dying 10 year old but it left permanent scar with us. Hang in there with the girl and her family even if it just social. They will appreciate a familiar face when the "specialists" descend upon them.

I get all warm and fuzzy reading your posts (nothing of a fluffing nature, I assure you..)! Thanks guys!

Yes, Kurt, that would indeed help!

Matt, I would so like to come to America again one day. If I had the money I would have you all over for next Midsummer. A three days race that takes a steel stomach, a well tuned liver and preferably a filled prescription for Viagra. Blonds on the house.

Steve, your story is an example of the toughest part in this business. When it goes really bad your natural instinct is to just head swiftly for the nearest horizon. Its emotionally very taxing being in the center of tragedy time after time. Of course, being a doctor, that is not an option if you want to inspire confidence and safety.

I am really sorry to hear about your son.

A quote from a great author (Spider Robinson - I recommend reading his stuff... sorta like PPOT would be if we had a bar and a fireplace) goes something like

Shared pain is lessened, shared joy is increased

Like someone else said, the time to quit your business is when something like this *doesn't* get to you...

Coming in late -

- livi's bad day at work threads always help me put my bad days in perspective. I was feeling pretty bad that S&P broke 1300 and oil broke $140, then I realized it is small potatoes.
