I did a tasting at several coffee farms in Kona in April/May. Kinda like a wine tasting except you get the shakes instead of drunk!

I took it up a notch

YEA BABY -

I'M OVERBOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I BUY MY UN-ROASTED BEANS IN 5LB QUANTITIES HERE: Green Coffee Beans, Unroasted Coffee - Burman Coffee Traders

- I'VE BEEN MAKING MY WAY THROUGH DIFFERENT ORIGIN'S

I PAN ROAST EVERY WEEKEND - ENOUGH TO LAST ME THROUGH THE WEEK.
- I EXPERIMENT WITH THE ROASTS WEEK TO WEEK: HALF CITY THROUGH FRENCH
- I USE MY BAYOU CLASSIC PROPANE BURNER

EVERY EVENING I FILTER MY WATER TO PREP FOR THE FOLLOWING MORNING.

FRENCH PRESS BREWING
- I HAND GRIND MY BEANS (HARIO SKERTON). SKIRTON ADJUSTED FOR A MEDIUM GRIND.

- FRENCH PRESS: 4 MIN BREW THEN DUMPED TO MY MUG AND A 16OZ THERMOS.

THEN I'M WIRED UP FOR THE DAY.

BTW - I'M NOT A COFFEE SNOB, I WILL DRINK ANYTHING BLACK AND CAFFEINATED.

ALSO, THE ABOVE PROCESS IS INTENSIVE AND HAS REALLY HELPED ME REDUCE MY DAILY COFFEE INTAKE.

french press. and sometimes, if i want the best possible coffee, i roast my own beans. mcmenamins coffee beans are about the best i've found, next to the beans i roast myself.

i use a popcorn popper, that i modified a bit, to roast my beans.

Most of what I came to type has already been said. Terry nailed it with the Eight O'Clock recommendation. If you want a nice pot of coffee that tastes as well as it smells it's really hard to beat 0800 Original and it's available everywhere. But, whatever you do, do NOT buy ground coffee. Buy beans and grind at home. I'm lazy. I grind a few days worth at a time and store in an airtight container. I'm also cheap so I'm still grinding coffee with my 20 year old Krups with a (gasp) blade. Ground fine, brewed through a Cuisinart drip with a 'gold' filter to let the oils through.

Put me down with the Kona crowd. Not the Kona blend crap at Kroger. Beans grown on the island of Kona. Peaberry, please. But that can get expensive so refer back to the first paragraph.

If you can't stand black coffee try heavy cream instead of half and half. You're not saving all that many calories with half and half and the cream will add just a hint of sweet. -J

Turkish or good strong Italian roast

Made with these: black, sweet, and with lots of grounds. Most visitors when asked if they want coffee, only do so once. Anybody who accepts a second time, are good friend material..

I have that exact same one and love it!
According to the counter it has made over 2500 cups.
Not a single problem.

Very well designed machine

You can pick up a refurb for $499

A group of us bought one for work. I had it for a weekend, to make sure it was working, and decided I had to get one for my house. 2 other guys have also bought one for the house. My sisters and I bought one for my parents as a house warming.

Push button, grinder whirrs, water pushes through. Less 30 seconds later, a fresh cup of coffee! Mmmmmmm.

Ethiopian beans from a fair trade place in the Valley. An old cast iron burr grinder given to us thirty years ago and a stainless steel thermal french press.
Life is too short to drink bad coffee.\

To answer the original question:

In a $25 Mr. Coffee with Folgers coffee. Consumed, black no foo-foo flavorings. Just a regular cup of joe.

4 cup cone filter machine. Starbucks French Roast - #3 grind in store (their expresso grind). 3 heaping measures per 4 cups makes a strong Euro-type long coffee. Shprt I know I am a heathen but I gave up grinding my own years ago. And the Starbucks makes me a double heathen but I like what I like. And I brew & shut the machine off so it doesn't bake & taste like airplane coffee.

French press with whatever coffee beans my coffee snob girlfriend bought. If it was just me, I'd drink a Coke.
