My niece had a friend in her day care class named, "Jesus The God". Yeah, it's the Bible Belt...
I also used to work with a girl named "Suntania".

In the hispanic culture (of which I am a member) the collective "we" - well the most traditional types anyway, still use Jesus (pronounced "Heh-soos") and names like Angel and older traditional names that no one who is a native English speaker really knows how to pronounce like say, "Rogelio" (Roh-eel-yo). I kinda see why they do this but the ones that make me cringe is when the parent speaks English with a heavy accent (no issue there, at least they DO speak English) and they name their kid Crystal ( ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Dan, everyone likes the Hispanic tradition of using the name Jesus. It's so much more cool to call someone "Hey Zuess" than "Geezus". I'd much rather go by the Hispanic pronunciation.

Unfortunately, I'd rather hear some of those names than the current crop of Tristans, Braedens, Dakotas, Pipers, and Chases populating Suburban America right now . . .
Sorry if any of you have kids with those names. Every kid but your kid is what I meant. ![]()

I think the title of this thread applies more to the intermeddling, know-it-all judge who needs to mind his own business.

Touching on Jeremy's post, what's with this new trend of giving first names that are usually surnames? I think CNN's weatherman's name is Reynolds Wolf. Shouldn't that be the other way around?
I'm gonna make it real simple on my future kids - two boys named Mick and Keith.

That's Funny. Name evolution in progress. I'm sure I've mentioned the name of a kid that my ex-wife used to teach - Rory Lyons.

Yeah, but...since when does anything on this forum stay "On Topic"? That's why it's called "Off Topic", no? (cough, cough Starbucks/Harley, cough...).

Two of the coolest ethnic names in my hs were Stefanos Velosaropolous (his sister was Ariana) and Vadim Shkolnikov. We called Vadim "Rad Vad". We called Ivan Boesky's son (a classmate) "Ted the Terrible".

A kid I knew in High School was named Edward Ward. No lie. We presented him with the prestigious Edward E. Ward Award at graduation.
I've also known a Jennifer Erik (Jenn Eric = "generic") and a Dick Spitz in my days. Some parents are completely clueless and or mentally deficient.

Hey Danny, f-off on the starbucks....
![]() Now back to this thread, about 9 years ago, my comapny was purchased by a large Swedish based firm. At about that time, one of the Regional President hired a guy named Thor. His middle name was Ivan, and none of us could figure out what he would look like. You know Thor being that big nordic comic book guy and all.... |

I read in the paper here that "Number 16 Bus Shelter" was so called as that was where the child was conceived! |
