Of course you wouldn't be sorry for looking like a total fool for promulgating such trash. N'no, it's because of us that can't get past the trash. Gee, thanks for your concern. |
Island,
Show me where I say I am concerned for you. Show-me, Island911. |
Wow!
Well, at least sarcasm isn't lost on you. |
Is that all you can say? You make up a fake quote by me, and then say "wow"?
I'm disappointed. I want you to show me where it says I am concerned for you. Go ahead. I say again. Show me Island911. |

Show me where I say anything "Lib"...go ahead Eric, dig it up. I want you to.
|
Eric Coffey from Peoria Arizona....I am waiting for you to show me where I ever said anything ever that was "Lib". I want you to search all 2,500 of my posts, or not and just pretend that you never called me a "Lib", your choice.

Easy tiger. I never called YOU a lib. Check your fire. Although, you sure got pretty defensive about it there (Rino in our midst?). Anyhow, yes I saw your prior post touting your RNC status, good for you. However, with that "wet start" question, you certainly came across as someone who easily buys into the knee-jerk/conspiracy theory/lib nutjob manifesto. But, at least it only appeared to be a temporary lapse in judgment, as you quickly followed with the "sorry for even mentioning it" post. After all that, I was merely pointing out that you were possibly fueling the fire for the next buzz word/theory/Obama-defense for the left to latch onto. As in: "Oh Yeah, well at least Obama didn't "wet start" his jet, killing all those service men!" Oh, and seriously, what's with quoting my name, city and state? Is that some kind of veiled threat? Do we have another internet tough guy on our hands? Should we meet at the monkey bars at 3:00? :D :p p.s. - Just admit it, you secretly love Obama! :D |
Eric, it sounds like you publicly love McCain.
I'll bet you that less than 9 months ago, you were publicly anti-McCain. Admit it, McCain is the number one Democrat in the Republican party. So, pretend all you want that you have always been on the Strait Talk bandwagon. I already know better. |

Rusnake from wherever, now you've done it! You've brought George into this mess! What did HE do? smash a guitar into the footlights and burn a roadie? He does not even own a bandwagon, but a really nice tour bus... You've stepped over the line bud!;) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1217330324.jpg |

Very interesting angle i hadn't really thought about. No question in my mind that the old boys network is responsible for the lack of change and piss poor behaviour of the majority of our politicians. My guess is the old boys are well practiced in 'welcoming' a non-white male with one hand while crossing their fingers with the other. Obama would be at some of the 'meetings' to be sure but it's the meetings he wouldn't know about where the real decisions would be made. |
FDR.
He took credit for things he didn't do, like ending the Depression. (It was the build-up leading to WWII and the post war boom that ended the depression.) It is directly his fault that Korea and China are the problems they are today. And most damning of all, he established the idea that it is okay to spend money the government doesn't have on things that make voters feel good but don't produce any results. |
5000 years ago, Moses said, “Pack your camel, pick up your
shovel mount your ass, and I shall lead you into the promised land.” 5000 years later… F.D.R. said, “Lay down your shovel, sit on your ass, and light up your Camel. This is the promised land.” |

It amazes me how shortsighted some of you guys are. History hasn't had enough time to judge Bush yet but I think he'll end up somewhere near Truman- who was just as unpopular when he was President and only later got the credit he deserved.
As to old boy networks have any of you ever been to Johnstown, PA? John Murtha is the KING of old boy networks. Robert Byrd used to be. There's an interesting article in the WSJ about a book that rejudges the Presidents. Sorry I don't have time to post a link. |

Cairns, I don't disagree with you, but I think some form of Democracy in the Middle East, starting with Iraq, then Iran/Persia will leave some big footsteps, as well as make terrorism unnecessary. I'm more interested in looking at politics empirically, rather than normatively. For example, the question of should Iraq be made democratic through force is less interesting that whether it will last, and spread throughout the region. That is still not known. I think China is headed for regime change, maybe within the next 20-40 years. The central government will not be able to meet all of the rising expectations of the population, and still control the economy. I also looked at the issue of transfat regulation, and predicted that they will be banned. Legalized gay marriage, I don't care about it at all, but I think the courts in California acted way ahead of political support, so I think it will be recalled and set back further. |
People associate what happened while a President was in office rather than what was actually done, that skews results badly. Clinton "did" next to nothing and in a weird way that keeps him off the list.
