Just talked to my neighbor, I lost two trees but no window or house damage! No power at my house and no power at the machine shop 7 miles up the road from my house.

Now I'm glad my wife made us leave, because I get to kick back in A/C tonight and watch the USC/OS game!

I'll have A/C as soon as I get home, since I have a generator. The wife doesn't want to disturb the neighbors at night. Screw them! I'm gonna be cool in the bedroom!

We just got power back, so their "3 days to 3 weeks" claim was presumptive

We have power, the complex across the street doesn't, so it's still being worked on circuit by circuit.

If we can get water by noon, I'd consider that to be coming out unscathed.

We still don't have power, but my daughter's boyfriend about 3 miles down the road does.

Last night was HOT, but tonight is supposed to be much cooler. My neighbor has a generator. It runs all night, and sounds like it's in our bedroom. Can't close the windows because it's too hot. I can't wait for the electricity to come back on.

I spend a few hours again today helping folks get tree limbs out of their yards and out to the street for when the city sends people around to clean up all of the tree limbs. I'm going to be sore tomorrow.

But, all in all, we've gotten off really easy. A few nights of no AC isn't that big a deal.

Heading to the Airport. I hope I make it home THIS TIME! I'll give a run down of what I see. But I'll be on the Northside, so don't expect pictures of stuff underwater, or floating bodies...

Wow.

When Gustav rolled through, it was 3-4 days after it made landfall and gave us about an inch of rain over 24 ours.

Ike rolled through yesterday and gave us 6+ inches of rain in three hours--five of those inches in one hour.

I was driving back from Indianapolis and got hit with the worst part of the storm just west of Danville. We stopped for gas and lunch--I was having problems seeing the road. It wasn't raining, it was pouring. It was like a waterfall from the sky. I can usually see fine in bad weather in the truck because I sit above most of the road spray and because I am a religious Rain-X user.

Chicago has been hit bad though. Two interstates closed and multiple school closing today.

Ike, one bad mamma-jamma, our local Grocery store has electric and is open. We just had Chinese from a little restaurant next door. Lots of the people I know on this side of town have electricity, but we still don't. We're in an older part of town. Hopefully that doesn't mean we'll be last to get electricity.

Still no power at our house so we're just hanging out in Austin.

I don't want to be part of the problem, I'm sure my boss understands

Ok so here is the full story. And what a story it will be.

Wendesday:
Had been watching IkE since it entered the gulf. Was really hoping it would come this way just so I could have a hurricane. I am from Jersey (kind of) so I still enjoy having them. Talked to the parents and they decided that we would probably boarded up and just ride out the storm. Didn't look like we were really going to get hit that bad.
