IS KFC Really chicken

Don't know if this is true or not. Maybe someone here knows....

"Kentucky Fried What?

When people eat at KFC do they really know what they are eating? During a recent study of KFC done at the University of New Hampshire, they found some very upsetting facts.

First of all, has anybody noticed that just recently, the company has changed their name? Kentucky Fried Chicken has become KFC. Does anybody know why? We thought the real reason was because of the "FRIED" food issue. It's not. The reason why they call it KFC is because they can not use the word chicken anymore. Why? KFC does not use real chickens. They actually use genetically manipulated organisms.

These so called "chickens" are kept alive by tubes inserted into their bodies to pump blood and nutrients throughout their structure. They have no beaks, no feathers, and no feet. Their bone structure is dramatically shrunk to get more meat out of them. This is great for KFC because they do not have to pay so much for their production costs. There is no more plucking of the feathers or the removal of the beaks and feet.

The government has told them to change all of their menus so they do not say chicken anywhere. If you look closely you will notice this. Listen to their commercials, I guarantee you will or see or hear the word chicken."

I used to walk past a KFC chicken ranch on the way to school as a kid; I doubt all that is true, but they did shove so many chickens in a barn that none could move (more tender that way).

Anyway, they're food and its good imo.

We get people dressed in "lettuce shells" (yup) and they protest outside the KFC. Ha! Always makes our front page.

Remember the '90s, and the "low fat" craze?

That's when they tried to call it "Kitchen Fresh Chicken" for a few years.

The wording in the article is identical to the email you evidently got:

KFC Mutant Chickens

My lad found it on some web site. I don't eat the crap anyway. Don't know about the U.S. but here in Oz it's so full of fat and oil it's not funny.

There used to be a place called Pioneer Chicken - at least in L.A. The rival to KFC. I always thought PC was better. I can't remember the last time I have been to KFC. Taco Bell (once a week or two) and Subway are the only fast food places I go to these days. Usually when I am out of food at home and don't feel like going to the store.

Nah, Dave. Golden Bird was better than both KFC and PC. They had one somewhere near the Coliseum. I remember as a kid driving home with the family from the Rams game, and picking up a bucket, you know, to sort of stave off the losers that the Rams were in those days.

Popeyes is currently the chix of choice. KFC original recipe though is hard to beat.

PC morphed into Popeyes. I have never been to Popeyes and I doubt I will. I do venture to El Pollo Loco on the rare occasion.

I think Popeyes originated in New Orleans (I do know the chicken is a lot spicier down there than here). They merged with Church's Chicken at some point, but not Pioneer Chicken, IIRC.

Chic fil A is good too. Wish there were more outlets in L.A.

The Wiki article (which can be wrong) says that most of the PC franchises and units were converted.

Anyway, the biscuits and gravy were usually good at most of those outfits, butter too.

Yup, getting hungry here as well!

I like KFC chicken, but usually feel a bit ill afterwards (eat too much? too much fat? dunno) so have it only 2-3X year.

The quote in the initial post is BS.

Remember in the 60's..."Don't cook tonight, call Chicken Delight" They were better than KFC, IMHO, of course things are always better in memory.

Its not chicken, it is a laxative (for me anyway)....
I seem to forget what it does to me 2 or 3 times a year.

KFC is chicken, BUT you just can't fly U.S. Flags over KFC stores in Colorado.

I call it freight train food.

Thats how it goes through my system.

I only eat it if I know I'm not going anywhere within a half hour.
