Another "nut on a plane gets pummeled" story:
Don't get all "off your meds" on a plane these days, the passengers will issue you a beat-down. And good I say.

Yep. This kind of reaction has all but guaranteed a repeat of September 11th cannot happen.

9/11 was a one-shot deal. Something that only works the first time you try it.

Or the fuel lines on a 951...
Those passengers deserve medals and public commendations. In reality they'll probably be sued for everything they own and lose.

Nope. You didn't miss anything. It is what it is.
The line came to mind because my first car was a Plymouth and the parking brake never worked twice in a row. I had to get it fixed several times.

DON'T mess around these days folks. There are Federal Flight Deck Officers in the cockpits of a LOT of airliners now. Two years ago, there were only a few "certified to fly with a gun" airline pilots; these days it is common for a Federal Agent to be armed and in the cockpit. I'm planning on taking the training this year.
My only problem with the whole thing: I prefer the .40 S&W. The FFDO program revolves around 9 mm handguns... Might as well be a bb gun! N! |

I remember thinking that all of the fear about flying right after 9/11 was silly- it simply cannot happen again. Virtually every able-bodied man on a plane will go after anyone who tries anything. Nobody will ever again be able to convince passengers that they are turning the plane around to land and get their demands met- they won't even be able to say anything.
There will never be another successful hijacking of a commercial plane. I am not by any stretch a big guy, but for sure, if a guy behind me started saying stuff about having a bomb or rushing the cockpit, I'd be eye-gouging, crotch-kicking, stabbing with a pen, pretty much every life-or-death cheap-shot move I know, until he was subdued or dead. I think pretty much everyone feels the same. |
