I've been to maybe 4-5 meetings in NJ. For the most part it was newer car owners that aren't really the DIY type. The owners of the older cars pretty much the concours type. I didn't feel like I really fit in so I stopped going.

I didn't bother. I never got any real value out of it. I know that it is my fault for not pursuing it, but when I went to a couple of meetings it was mostly older folks with newer model cars that liked to talk about washing it, or how the dealer changes their oil. Just not for me....

Cool

Its a good place to start, our Region (OCR) has a competitive AX series with some of the events @ Streets of Willow... Being around fellow porschephiles is a good thing for your knowledge base too.

I am with the Oregon Region Chapter. We have lots of events, DE's, AX, tours, dinners etc. Our AX's are well attended with a number of SCCA Hot shoes coming out for extra seat time.

This year, for the first time, we are offering a driver's skills class just for teen drivers. Should be a great program.

I'm in, mostly for nostalgia and loyalty reasons. Plus, I like the articles on historic and racing Porsches in Panorama.

And they ran my article in the December issue called "A Tale Of Three Carerras." So, you know... now they have me for life. LOL

I am in only in because that is the only way I can get into the DE's.

AutoX is crowded with little wheel time, mag is very weak with the best part being the adds, never could get past the pass word part of the PCA web site.

Been a member since 1974. Like Paul, for nostalgia and loyalty. I like the Panorama, Al Caldwell is in our club and available for info. My wife and I enjoy the Canada West Weekend and the 1300 mile round trip involved, in our 71 911T. At many events, we seem to be the oldest there, with the oldest car.

Best, Tom

I renewed.

Like the publications and the local magazine with contacts in the area.

Cancelled Excellence Mag. Just started to seem like it was repeating itself, and when it wasn't, it was redundant to the articles in the PCA mags.

Luis - I'm with you on "Excellence." That's sort of the problem with single-marque clubs and single-marque magazines. There's no cut and thrust. Everyone is a fan. It's... boring. That's why a magazine like "Octane" is fascinating every month, but Excellence always feels like the same old stuff, over and over and over again.

I'm a Porsche addict, but there is only so much I can take of standing in a restaurant talking about how great our cars are, you know? Or reading a magazine about how great our cars are. I am a Porsche addict, but it's the multi-marque clubs and events and magazines that keep me coming back all the time, because there is some variation in the topics.

And of course, the DE's are awesome. I'm a member of the BMW club and the Ferrari club too, even though I don't own either. I'll take all the track events I can get! LOL

My favorite magazine right now is "Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car." This month is Porsche special but sometimes it is a datsun 240, or a Toyota Celica GT. Great diversity!!

I renewed too; hope to catch a couple of DE's this year. It my 11th year but haven't been very active since the move up north. I always seem to live at least 1 hour away from where the monthly region meetings are held.

Chicago Region newsletter is nice, imo...

I renewed but SBR has way too many wine and cheese events and new cars. They don't seem to be into the driving or the thrill of the old cars.

What can I say, finally, I now have the extra ca$h to be a member.

Love to see all the nice cars, but the people are the best!! Hope to save for a Porsche parade excursion some day in the future.

I'm in, since I've been a member for over 20 Years - Nostalgia & Loyality.

That said, they like Porsche, don't give a Rat's-Ass about older cars.

I'm in - probably for life....

I'm a member of NNJ (Northern New Jersey Region). We are the largest region in the PCA with over 2400 members. Second oldest after "Founders Region". 52 years old.

We have 12-14 DE's a year (3 day weekends) 8+ A/X's, 7-8 Rallys, and around 7-8 Concours events (workshops and actual concours) a year. We also have at least two tech events a month for the DIY'fer. We have lots of social events (fun rallys, dinners, monthly meetings, seminars, workshops). If you want to do something - we have stuff to do 9 out of 10 weekends a year in-season (March-October) and a bunch of stuff mid-week. In off season it drops to around 2-3 events a month.

I'm not as active as I was. I got burnt out volunteering myself to death. (National PCA Sponsorship Chair, National PCA PR Chair, National Parade Competitive Events Chair, Regional Concours Chair, Governor, and Treasurer).

I've met some of the most fantastic people who I count amoung my closest friends in the PCA.
