I feel after having watched AI tonight that most of the other contestants have already given up. They're going backwards for the most part while Lambert is striding forward with the gait of a Titan.

I actually think Anoop (who has no prayer to win) is emerging as a distant second best. I thought he'd be gone weeks ago, but he's really improving. I thought Allison has had some awesome performances, but she has not impressed me in weeks. I thought her performance tonight was mediocre at best.

I want to know who stole Snipers 928 and left him the keys to a Miata ??

That used to keep some competitors on the show long after they should've been gone.

9dreizig- If the Miata is supercharged i could almost live with it. My cousin has one of those, it's like a 'roid-raged slot car. LOL.

As for Lambert, i didn't know how he would out do his performance last week, and then i saw his performance of Stepenwolfs "Born to be Wild" last night.

It starts out a little wierd with some techno-funk tones (some 'strict constructionalists' of rock are not going to like his re-mix i am sure), but then they're playing actual heavy metal power chords and he's thrashing alongside the band and backup singers- which you just DO NOT see on American Idol ever, and from there it just goes into hyperdrive asskicking mode, and closes with an insane high note/primal scream that would make Bruce Dickenson proud.

Rock has been in such a mediocre state for many years. The entire genre was begging for a true mercury-plant-tyler caliber superstar, and now it has one...and one tied at the hip to all the best song writers in the business today. And oh yeah...he looks like Elvis.

Not sure. The ones that need to be going have pretty much been dropping in order like flies. I don't think anyone has gone too soon really. Of course at this point the other contestants must feel like Star Trek TOS Red Shirts...

I loved it. So did the crowd. You couldn't even hear Seacrest trying to give out the phone numbers.

Lil got the pimp spot tonight, and boy did she do everything she could to make that a moot point. So vote! 1-866-436-5707. From singing off key to picking one of the most overdone karaoke songs ever to doing it "gospel" style, Lil definitely infuriated Simon with her choices. And when he called her out on being terrible, she talked back. You go, Lil. Nice work! Keep it up, because we need to see that fiery side so everyone will support you more. Lil could easily go home, but we could also easily see Kris, Anoop, or Matt take a hike as well. So let's keep Simon's least favorite contestant in for yet another week so she can talk back again next week, pick another really bad song, and overall make everyone feel uncomfortable.

Note to Lil: Here's some advice. You've become boring to the average watcher. That's why VFTW is supporting you, everyone else doesn't like you. What you need to do is pick something completely ridiculous next week if you're still around. Seriously. Pick something silly, stupid, fun, and just go for it a camp it up Megan style. If you want to be remembered, that's the way to do it. We'll support you either way. But think about it this way: Do you want to go home singing a boring song or go down in a giant ball of flames? Flames are fun.

AI gets a bad rap for being "whats wrong with America", primarily from those who have never actually seen it. IMO, in many ways, AI is all that's left of "Old America", where you could actually sit down with the whole family and watch a full evening of live performances of all kinds on network TV.

Most of the contestants are karaoke wannabes- sure, but every year there has been at least one legitimate star, and some of them have turned out to be legitimate super stars. I suspect that Lambert is probably going to be the biggest of them all.

Top 7 redeux performance

Lil has got to go.

Starting out I thought she was a top 3 finisher.

She has been a real disappointment.

Not sure what's going on with Allison. She definitely has the chops for a #2 or 3 finish. Don't understand why she has been in the bottom twice.

And the "save" was wasted on Matt.

Allison was a lot better than she has been last night though. Ond wow on the leather outfit. LOL. My favorite performance of hers was Pappa was rolling stone. That was red hot.

I pretty much despise disco, but Lambert and Allisen slayed the genre last night. I'd like to see those 2 in the finals.

I originally wished Lil would do well, she seemed promising. But she did not deliver and the pain needed to stop.

I am scratching my head on Allison.

You would think she'd have a strong tween audience but she's not "bubble gum" and I think the little girls are all voting for Adam so that could explain it.

I don't think Matt is better than Allison.

I'm having some issues with Kris, he's talented but kinda vanilla.

I think Kris has a future as a producer, I really like his arrangements.

Some really interesting things last night.

As Lil was being pulled from the big group, the usual double-speak was coming from Seacrest....

As Lil found out that she was going to the 'bottom 3' seats, Seacrest had just finished teasing her about 'really wanting this' and 'you are the kind of talent we need here', he follows as she is starting to stop crying, with 'Lil, I need you to cross over to the other side of the stage' (where the 3 seats are)... as she crosses in front of Seacrest, she is seen to mouth the word 'BA$TARD' at Seacrest. He goes white as a sheet. When they reach the 3 seats cross stage, Ryan is looking at Simon with a PO'd stare... Word is.. Simon gives Ryan the 'outta here' thumb, and Ryan says to Lil, "this is the end of the line for you"..... Pay close attention to some of the others when this happens. Everyone in the remaining contestants section is shocked at the break in format. Simon is the only person in the audience that does not stand up.

Later, Ryan, in dismissing Lil, says 'she always speaks her mind', and then looking at Paula says he is 'reading her lips'... and then the discussion about her swan song performance.

Remember the girl from Utah (arm tat) who said to Simon 'I don't really care...' to Simon when she was dismissed, how Simon was seething as she left?

Simon last night commented about how lil's family was always yelling at him. If you remember her family was always booing and yelling personal insults ON CAMERA at Simon.... I think even tho Lil was obviously genuinely talented, her attitude in rebuttals and her family's classless taunts get her booted last night. Ryan and Simon immediately changed the format last night, and didn't even let her sit for the 'final 3 worst' scenario.

You'd think the other contestants would have picked up on those possibilities when Ms. Utah thumbed her nose at Simon on the way out of the door.

As to Allison? Definate finalist, but I suspect she doesn't have the 'support group' identifying with her to vote for her. Too bad, she could be second in this season (first place already being sown up).

Only thing i'd do is swap Kris for Danny, but beyond that, yep, me and you have very similar taste apparently.

Danny has a really good voice, but he's like archuletta from last year. Always sounds the same.

If the judges know the results and who is going home before seacrest reads them your scenario is pefectly plausible.

She should have gone a few weeks back, but the vote for the worst site kept her around a little longer.

I think matt should have gone home last night too, not Anoop Dog, but eh, he was going home next week anyway, so it doesn't much matter.

I'm sure Monkey has it right, Matt will be the next to fall.
