They're out there... In growing numbers.

Hey Kids: Captain Obvious reminds you that if you jump into a pen of polar bears during feeding time, they might not like it and you might get eaten! So remember to NOT jump in polar bear pens at feeding time, okay?

Polar bear attacks woman at Berlin Zoo

BERLIN, Germany (CNN) -- A polar bear attacked a woman at Berlin Zoo Friday afternoon after she climbed a fence and jumped into its habitat during feeding time, police said Saturday.

One adult polar bit her several times after she plunged into the moat, police said.

Zoo workers tossed rescue rings toward the woman to hoist her out and distract polar bears swimming nearby, said Goerg Gebhard, a Berlin police officer.

"They saved her life," Gebhard told CNN.

The woman was severely injured and was being treated at a hospital, police said.

It's unclear why the woman entered the bear habitat, but police issued her a citation for trespassing.

Can they issue her a citation for being a complete moron too? Or d'ya think the scars and bite marks will be enough?

Yes on the citation.

The scars and bite marks are just the icing on the cake.

The real payoff occurs if somebody has film footage and it goes on YouTube and she's able to go read the comments.

I saw that on the news and my first thought was to turn the camera off and simply walk away. WTF, she had to push through thorny bushes and climb a fence, they should have just let the bear finish her off. The rest of us would be better off. Thinning of the herd as it were.

I just don't understand folks that don't get what a big wild animal can do. Hell, even "small" wild animals would tear the avg person up.

she is lucky the bear was well fed and treated her like an interloper in its home rather than a food item - also lucky the bear didn't have PPK or something to deal with intruders....

kinda wish I was still teaching - that would make for some fun in-class comments...

Pity, she failed in her attempt to earn the 2009 Darwin Award. Well, "If at first you don't succeed..."

Exactly... this is a perfect example of a dummy who only looked at the pictures and never read the text.

I know this comment could be polarizing, but I couldn't bear to watch the video.
