have you ever learned to cook something, only to never eat it again..because...

...you now know what is in it?

i got this brand new food processor..so i made hummus, pesto, the usual sauces. then i try something bolder, like chicken liver pate. it came out delicious, and the family good-bye party loved it, but i will never eat it again. it cannot be good for you. maybe for the iron deficient..but wow.

I help my neighbor hold the deer carcasses while he works the band saw.

Very little about food grosses me out at this point.

I made Scotch eggs once about 7 or 8 years ago, and will never bother with 'em again.

Not because I know what's in 'em... because after eating one, it felt like my heart was trying to jump out of my chest.

Tasted pretty good, though.

I haven't reached the "never eat it again" point yet, but learning Thai cooking has been an eye opener. The fish sauce I can deal with, but the shrimp paste.... my god, the shrimp paste.

You don't want to know what's in Special Sauce.

How do you make chicken liver pate?

Seriously - I might try it.

About 30 years ago I made an enourmous chocolate yule-tide log. Very rich.

A small portion was great, but I wanted to finish it off so I served gigantic portions. My friends loved it with coffee.... A couple of them were sick for days and still won't eat any food I prepare, they still talk about it today

Ehh? It's CHICKEN LIVER pate for goodness sake. What did you think was in it?

Fortunately I grew up eating stuff like liver and onions, chicken liver pate, blood sausage, etc. and got to like it before I realised that kids weren't supposed to like it.

There isn't very much that grosses me out. I love eating haggis and I know full well what's supposed to be in that (not often is, especially not if you get any over here in the USA). There are odd things that I don't like because of the though of it, tongue for example. Funny thing is I don't like pesto - I'd much rather have the pate thanks!

I worked in a restaurant shucking clams at the raw bar (Ottos in Freeport)..
After doing that for a few years during high school.. I haven't touched a clam since...I also used to dig clams from the bay...

I am now anti-clam lol

Ah. I suppose that isn't too much of a problem as long as you eat it in moderation. Half a pound at a time on a regular basis and I can see that one may become very good friends with a heart specialist...

...for a while at least.

when I was in Tibet, I had yak lung. after that, not much gosses me out. about the only thing that got to me was the yak butter tea - it just tasted wrong, kinda rotten. it was everywhere, so you had to drink it, as not to offend the locals.
