Like I said 1 of our two town H.S. shut down for 2 weeks. I laughed.

On Saturday two boys on my son's baseball team had the flu. Now (Sunday Evening) both my son and daughter are fighting a bug (low fever, chills, coughing). I have been fighting a bad head cold for over a week now. Something is definitely going around. Killer flu bug I think not.

Say Nappy on the news yesterday, now she is talking that flu will come back in the fall in a more virulent strain. Sounding more and more like a bad "B" movie.

I'm 100% in agreement... If it's not on fire, dangerous, scary, it's not on the news anymore. It's all about ratings. Even the weather has become like WWF wrestling ! I'ts F#$#ing water people, or wind ! Get a coat ! Booh !!!

I wish they'd start a new channel" the boring chanel" (TBC) with accurate unbiased stuff, for a change... no opinion pieces, none ! Raw feed ! Like you, I only watch the BBC now, and even that has a bit of an agenda (generally kissing our butt while pretending not to). I also limit my NPR to a few minutes and switch to music... I want to be informed, but all outlets are too full of political bias or hype these days...

I'm not saying the economy was flawless, obviously, but I'm pretty sure this recession was brought on by the media's insistence for 3 years that we were heading for one... self fulfilling prpphecy ? Hey, now that they are sounding optimistic again, I think we'll be out of the recession soon ;-) We're sheep !

This was just a practice run for the new, zombie-producing flu coming out this fall.

i picked up about a one -two month supply of food, and filled all my propane tanks...washed my hands like a man possessed. that was the end of my proactive approach. i live in one of the most jampacked human populations. if it hit us hard, i wouldnt be able of avoid it.

I bought a few N95 and N99 masks, equipped family w/ hand sanitizer, everyone is washing hands a lot. I asked a doctor friend if I should buy Tamiflu, he laughed and said (1) it merely reduces symptom duration by a day, he doesn't consider it useful except for highest-risk patients, and (2) not writing any Rx to anyone not actually ill. Not much else to do. Only a few suspected cases in all of OR so far, chances of contracting it are probably pretty low.

Don't care anymore. My Lyon trip cancelled due to other reasons but I'm still happy to not have to worry about being stuck in quarantine in France cause some kid on the plane has an inner ear infection causing him to register a temperature.
