windows XP help

i usually open threads in a new window, that way i can close them and not wait on the window to reload. all of a sudden, they have gone from opening maximized to opening in a much smaller window. how do i get it back to opening maximized?

Usually just drag the lower right corner to the size you want. Most of the time it will save that setting for next time you open a window.

Yeah, it's really inconsistent as I have also had the same problem. Did you try and hit the square at the top right to maximize, then close out and reopen?

Try this
Under your start menu/programs locate the IE icon and right mouse click-
Click on Properties-
Click on the Shortcut Tab at the top, Locate the "Run" option and click the drop down and select "maximized"

thanks rob, i did not know that was there....but it did not help. closed all windows and reopened. when i right click a thread and select open in new window, it is still opening a window half the size but in the center of my screen.

i have been through the registry looking for something. i found 2 places that had something about open maximized for IE and i changed it to yes, but no luck.

when i first open IE, it will open maximized, it is when i open a new window.

How about going to tools>Internet Options>Advanced then hit Reset. Bring it to default.

Ok lets try this,
You say when you first open IE it opens fine (maximized) but when opening a link in another window it's half the size.

Open your IE (maximized), right click a link and open it in a new window.
On the new IE window drag the corners to maximize it (not the maximize button)
Now go back to the first window and close that, then close your second window.

I know that sounds strange but hey this is IE we are talking about

opening it in a new window is where i have the problem. instead of clicking a thread or link, i usually right click and select open in new window. i do that so i can just close the window and were i started from is already up, i dont have to wait for the site to reload. but all of a sudden, the windows started opening half size.
there has got to be some setting that dtermines how big a window opens, i just cant find it.

Gotcha,
Did you try the second method I mentioned?
The method below also works for me IE 6 XP SP3

Open only 1 IE window
Right-click a link/url then choose Open In New Window. Do not maximize it.
Go back and close the first window you opened.
Go to the new window and drag the corners to the size you want don't use Maximize button
Close the second window

This should tell IE the default size for opening new windows.

Let me know
Thanks
