Are You Blue Or White Collar

Thought it would be interesting to know if the majority here have blue or white collar jobs.

I've only given 2 options for the poll, so if you are retired or have worked both, what area did you mostly work in.

I am a prototype model maker/ machinist.

a blue collar job got me the qualifications I needed to stop working and earn my living in a white collar job.

Yes that's right. I don't consider what I do as "working" so much as I do "earning a living".

I am in pharma manufacturing but I perform an office function.

I'm a blue collar with a white collar job. I voted white collar because of my current postion but I'm a blue collar to the bone.

I would have to say I fit into the same mold. I'm retired from a white collar job, but I have worked blue collar most of my life and come from a blue collar family.

I'm a beige collar... or maybe a mauve...

Dunno I'm so cross trained at my job not sure what you would call me.

I work with technology, computers and A/V equipment... but I'm a big strong guy and willing to lend a hand so I get called on to load/unload trucks and help build shelfing units etc.

What's a contractor? Lots of hats to wear. Businessman (white collar), tradesman (blue), psychotherapist (white), dog poop picker upper (blue or worse) and the list goes on.

Sorta gray collar. My full time job (telecom electrical engineering), mostly boring stufff, but still get my hands dirty once in a while. Not as much as I'd like to though.

I voted white collar, but that's me as well. I'm a Cisco router/switch/firewall/etc... guy. I mostly site at a desk, but I do get the chance to get dirty or cut myself on equipment edges from time to time.

Certainly many jobs cannot easily be described as one or the other, maybe I should have broken it down to technical/ administrative.

Most of my time is spend on the computer programming parts, preparing rapid prototype machines, but then I love to get on the lathe and turn parts or paint visual models. For this reason I believe I have a blue collar job. Not that it really matters that I give myself a label.

I guessed that many people here would work in some sort of technical field due to this being predominately a DYI/Technical forum.

I guess it is more white than blue. I work at a small company so management is just not an issue. Mostly I earn my living with a computer making photographic maps, digital & analogue.

I had a boss who once told me very loudly in front of the whole office that I was an example of how a college education ruined a perfectly good blue collar worker.
