I've got the owning part down.

The maintaining part... maybe a few years.

I echo the statement goto a part and not get hammered. It used to be, partying meant one thing: go get smashed. Now we regularly have dinner parties and whatnot where that isn't the case. (yet everynow and then it still happens..)

Do a nice job on restoration work that I am proud of.

When I was younger I was sloppy.

I was an angry drunk lunatic when I was 20. Pretty nice not being that guy today.

Oh yes, my ability to grow nose hairs seems to improve exponentially with age.

There are some convience stations around here that have a policy, everyone gets carded. Last winter I stopped at a place and the guy in front of me was getting carded. His own brother was the clerk! The clerk pointed to the security camera and said he would get in trouble if he did not card everyone.

My top 10 reasons why being an old fart is not so bad:

10. I can get all kinds of senior discounts.

9. I can take a vacation now and again (I was 36 before I took a real vacation).

8. Really not care what other people think about me.

7. I can avoid eating like a pig without feeling deprived.

6. I can laugh when someone wants to street race.

5. I can admire the looks of 20-something females without the slightest desire to get mixed up in their sh_t.

4. I can buy and read all the books and magazines I want.

3. I can build my (and the wife's) dream house, albeit one room at a time.

2. I can have sex without a rubber.

and, best of all,

1. I can be a grampa.
