miss the growing up with my Dad takin me fishin on weekends AND the fish frys from the catch. We stopped when I was 14 because they started putting Striped Bass in the lakes and it ruined the Crappie fishin.

Jim Richards 08-09-2013 05:14 AM

I think about fishing every now and then. :)

Good Friday morning folks.

More strange August weather. We received 2.4 inches of rain last night. That is probably close to the average monthly rainfall. Again no complaints. It fell in a short period. There were many places on the road that had a bit of gravel or dirt washed up. The water had all drained away buy 7:00 AM but it was obvious lots of places had deep water.

We're having a cooler summer than what I've seen the past 13 years here. Starting Tuesday, our highs are going to be in the 80 degrees or less. Lows in the mid-60s. That's more like mid-to-late September weather.

I hope the cool summer is not a foreshadowing of the pending winter

Jim Richards 08-09-2013 05:45 AM

Yikes! I hope not!

GH85Carrera 08-09-2013 05:52 AM

We have only had 3 days above 100 so far this summer. Last year is was brutal. We hit 113 one day and had several days above 110. We had weeks in a row of triple digit heat. I like this wet cool summer a lot better.

Morning Rick, Jim, Glen

Have had a great holiday, last full day with the biggest midget before he flys out tomorrow. He is such a lovely young guy, am really happy how he turned out!!

He had a job interview whilst he was here, and he really prepared for the interview, we discussed all possible questions that he might be asked, he sat writing answers to the possible questions, grouped them by subject type, practiced answering, then did a bullet form of notes to give him prompts to his practiced answers, then we discussed what questions he would have and what he wanted to know about the job, future, superannuation, leave entitlements, wage level, possibilities for advancement and further training, all that type of stuff. I was very impressed at how he prepared himself. It was for the position of Aquatics manager at the Canberra International Swimming and Aquatic Centre, which is quite a large centre, with three pools, gymnasium, swimming school, all indoor. He found out yesterday that he got the job, so he is very happy.

He is going to defer his Diploma of Education for Secondary School Teaching for a while, he is over half way through that, but it can be completed on a part time basis at the University, and he says that he would prefer to take the position and stop being a drain on his parents (yeah).

it is 81 already here in Southern Maryland at 9:01 and the humidity sucks big time. Yesterday was horrible.

Jim Richards 08-09-2013 06:02 AM

Congrats to your son, Azzy! You're a right-proud Mom! SmileWavy

I think it'll cool off starting Tuesday, if my memory still works.

Congratulations on raising a good kid.

I am sure you are totally non biased about him. ;)

So he had a job interview here for a job back in Oz?

azzarule 08-09-2013 06:22 AM

yes Glen, the interview was for a job back in Oz. So he will be returning tomorrow, and starts the day he gets back which will be Monday. Apparently he will only have the rest of next week as a hand over from the current incumbent of the job, who is moving on.

GH85Carrera 08-09-2013 06:31 AM

So he hits the ground running. Good for him.

Rick V 08-09-2013 06:51 AM

Wow jet lag and a new job after running all around the east coast. Too bad youth is wasted on the young. :)

Rick V 08-09-2013 10:24 AM

Well hauled Beth to the Dr.'s office since she is now on day four of this flu-like-bug-type-of-thing and guess what. The Dr. told her to do what I have been beating her over the head about for four days now.

GH85Carrera 08-09-2013 11:10 AM

But Rick, you understand you are just a husband.

It feels like my wife thinks I am stupid often. Then she comes to me to fix anything at all that does not work. So I am stupid but handy. She has seen me rebuild the suspension on my 911, replace an engine in the El Camino, build computers, design and install the sprinkler system and the central vacuum and lots of other things. But if I suggest she try something my way I am must be wrong.
