How do they do that? Do they roll it through a machine that stick sticky paper on the back, laminate on the front, and then mount it to a board?

We bought a laminator this weekend btw. :D. Don't have any sticky backing paper though.

Merry Christmas Y'all. Thought I was going to get stuck in VA working. Was out there for the last two weeks on very short (read none) notice.

Made it home in enough time so that I have to do all my shopping today!

Cheers!

Sid, I ran a laminator for several years. The way we did is was to buy a roll of adhesive. We would coat the board with the adhesive and it has a release paper so it is like a giant bumper sticker. Peel off the leading edge and stick it down as the laminator rolls it down.

The other way is to buy the board with the adhesive on it. That is what Triangle does for foam core. They also spray adhesive on the print and stick it.

We often mounted to other boards like Sintra or Komatex. For large prints like 4x8 feet we just coat that board with the adhesive and again just peel back the first 1/2 inch, with the print rolled back over the roller of the laminator. Get the edge started, pull the adhesive back and let the laminator press it down.

It takes some practice and a lot of messed up boards to get the hang of it.

I miss that laminator about like missing a toothache. It is a great piece of equipment but a pain to run. Of course our laminator was OLD. It was made in the 1960s. Seal made quality equipment.

The sun is starting to come out and the ice is coming off everything in huge chunks. The power lines are shedding 30 foot pieces of 3/4 inch think ropes of ice. It is going to break some windshields and dent some cars.

I am glad my Elky is home in the garage during the big melt.

We picked up one of these. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CtoBUN3KrVI&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DCto BUN3KrVI a Seal 54el.

It sounds like basically the same process we will be using, except our stuff is already sticky, just have to pull the backing off.

Thought about taking a picture of the top of my car, print it actual size flipped left to right and mounting it on the ceiling of my garage like it was a mirror.

Insurance adjuster=imbecile

He didn't account for the factory navigation running 2013 maps and updated firmware/software....didn't account for the self leveling HID headlamps. ....claims the transmission pan is weeping despite being replaced 2k miles back

Our was a hot laminator. It had several extra rollers as well. It could do hot on top or bottom rollers.

I just zipped up to the gas station to fill up for the trip tomorrow. Gas jumped 30 cents a gallon. How amazing. ;)
